At times, there are things that require investigation, and at other times, there are not.
The village of Yaoshi is not small. Really put it to the test, the towns beneath the Sigu Mountains can compare to a large town over in JinYang.
Even this small village feels like it has hundreds, or even thousands, of households.
The village roads are all neatly paved, with very few earthen houses on either side. Every home has a tile-faced wall and yard, and two-story houses stand.
I've walked through the entire village, and in my mind, I have a rough outline.
This village presents a square shape, with four village streets. In the middle, there are many exercise facilities, like a small park. It's where villagers gather and activities take place.
I also noticed there's a place in the village with a reservoir constructed, and beside it is a temple.
Most importantly, I found two houses.
One house has a notice on the door, and there's a carp swimming happily on the tile wall.
The light on the surface can pass through the iron door cracks to look inside the courtyard. Even though it's broad daylight, it gives a feeling of sinister severity.
The other house is more modest, the walls are not tiled, and the courtyard gate is slightly ajar, as if people come and go frequently.
The courtyard is filled with a lot of wood and bamboo racks, and there are herbs drying in the sun.
However, those herbs have been left untended for so long that they look particularly disheveled.
On the courtyard ground, there are many burnt-out incense sticks and money papers. The red wax has soaked the ground.
Although the person has been dead for several months, my experience tells me that once a family dies out, no one will live in the house. If it's haunted, the village will surely put up a notice.
I can initially judge that the grand mansion with the carp swimming graphically is the home of the family that was murdered.
This courtyard filled with herbs is the home of the father-son duo who committed the murder.
As for how the incense sticks and money papers came to be, it's a simple matter.
People, in many ways, often exist through empathy, rather than the simple principle of an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
Therefore, even if there are ghostly encounters in the village, someone from the father-son household will still burn incense and burn money.
That family of eight was murdered, and it was sealed with a notice. Even the offerings were not half a dish.
I found a good vantage point under a tree with few passersby outside the father-son's house and stood there silently waiting for it to get dark.
As time passed, around noon, two people with similar clothing to WuLing entered the courtyard. Soon, a fire started in the courtyard, and the smell of incense candles filled the air.
About fifteen minutes later, the two men emerged, seemingly discussing something, sighing deeply.
They suddenly stopped and turned to the corner of the courtyard on the west side, where they began to curse loudly.
A few minutes later, they finally stopped, walked away.
I originally intended to wait until it got dark, for at night, I would try to run into the spirits of the father and son. Knowing the truth from a ghost's mouth is clearer and more difficult to be deceived than from a person's.
However, the actions of those two men made me pause and think.
After waiting a few more minutes until there were no more people in sight on the path, I began to walk towards the spot where they had stood earlier.
As I approached, a strong smell of urine hit me in the face.
The bright sunlight was blinding. There was a large spot on the wall, looking damp and yellowish-white, indicating that it had been peed on more than once by someone.
No wonder the two wandering mountain men were cursing.
I suppressed my thoughts and returned to my original position, waiting quietly.
By noon, smoke began to rise from the homes and households, as before with Fan Jie's actions, I had become somewhat accustomed to it. I always carried some compressed cookies or chocolate with me.
I took out a bag of cookies and chewed to fill my hunger.
The afternoon passed relatively quickly, and I saw someone coming to burn incense and paper money.
It seems that there are many people who feel sympathy for the death of this father and son.
The sky gradually turned yellow as the day faded into evening. The sun slanted down, and dusk approached……
After dark, the village roads were unusually quiet.
After waiting for about ten minutes, there were no strange noises from the tile-walled courtyard, and no ghosts emerged from inside.
I had a slight doubt, but I still stood in place and waited quietly.
It was almost after nine o'clock, and the night was deep. Not a single ghost appeared.
This is indeed quite strange.
Normally, ghosts who have been wandering around for years in one place would definitely have a mansion.
Lonely ghosts without a home will wander around, and they will not stay in one place for long.
This father and son, who are said to be haunted every day, living in their own home is quite logical.
Could it be that they remained in the house of the woman who was murdered?
Ghosts indeed stay in places where people have died, treating them as haunted houses?
After thinking for a moment, I was about to go over there to take a look.
Maybe they have been wandering around on the village road for such a long time.
But before I could take a step,
Just as I was about to take a step, I saw two blurry figures standing motionless in front of the courtyard door.
The moonlight was clear and shadowy, and the two figures, one old with a hunched back, and the other slightly younger, but still quite old, at least in their thirties.
The two had disordered breaths, as if weak, wanting to enter the courtyard yet too afraid to do so.
After standing motionless for a long time, they slowly moved towards the village road.
During this time, they turned their backs on me and faced the direction of the village road.
What caught my eye was one with a deep mark around his neck, and the other with a bloated face, looking particularly terrifying.
The position I was in was relatively hidden, and they did not see me.
This made my pupils contract slightly, and in an atmosphere of uncertainty, the two ghosts appeared very weak……
To put it simply, it's as if their souls have been constantly tortured and scattered, without receiving any nourishment. Their disheveled eyes and expression seem as if they could become two wandering spirits at any moment...
These two ghosts, besides causing some ghostly appearances and scaring people...
If someone who knows a bit about this comes along, they can take them away with just a gesture of their hand!
Even a bit of harsh treatment would cause their minds to disperse.
It's strange, there are so many incense sticks in the courtyard, even though some have been burned during the day, as soon as they go inside, they will still have plenty of incense sticks to burn for them.
Why don't they go inside?
That's where the mystery lies.
I lightly inhaled and followed the two ghosts.
I need to first capture the ghosts, then go back to see what's happening in that courtyard.
The state of the father and son in front of me is not suitable for asking questions.
The wind at night blows, making it easier for ghosts, who are not solid, to move.
The father and son give off a more profound impression of being like vagrants on a winter day, looking for a place to shelter from the wind.
The wind subsided a bit, and the two stopped in front of a villager's house, as if to knock on the door.
I stepped forward quickly, only a dozen meters away from them.
The two ghosts almost simultaneously turned their heads, their dispersed eyes bulging out to their maximum extent!
The next second, there was a soft bang, and the two ghosts turned into a cloud of gray mist. The wind suddenly swept it away, and they disappeared without a trace...
I suddenly stopped in my tracks, looking downcast.
They were so weak?
Scared into dispersion by my approach?
I must admit, when I am in an impure state, I attract ghosts and spirits.
Now in the state of Yang Sheng Ming, with much practice in Daoism, I have more Yang Qi on my body.
But what can I do to resolve this situation?
Just as I was heartily vexed, my pupils suddenly constricted, and I squatted down, staring at the ground.
