In the beginning, the main use of Lao Gong in my hand was to locate people's positions.
Actually, at first, one of the uses of Old Gong in my hands was to locate a person's position.
However, that was only a superficial glimpse of the Yangshen ghost characteristics, to consume the related person's belongings, senses, and search for them.
I don't have anything of Xianyuan to give to Old Gong now.
Therefore, I can only say this.
“This… Master, I don't have….” Old Gong seemed very wooden, then his voice abruptly stopped, and he muttered, "Did I calculate it?"
For a moment, Old Gong fell silent, his lips moving constantly as if he were murmuring something.
I faintly heard the words "Xunfeng Zhenmu."
Soon, Old Gong's face showed extreme difficulty.
Just as I thought the matter was more complicated and something would go wrong,
Old Gong's eyes suddenly sparkled again, and he murmured, "The glowworm dwells among flowers and trees, taking the resonance from the east... The young miss hasn't gone far; within five hundred meters to the east, there must be a courtyard with lush leaves."
My pupil contracted slightly, and without any hesitation, I walked straight towards the east.
This direction leads deep into that row of residential buildings. My pace beneath my feet was fast, and I walked past the last building in just a few minutes.
The streets beyond were mostly standalone courtyards, similar to the Peaceful Lane where my home was located, though a bit more dilapidated. Almost every household had flowers and small trees planted in their courtyards.
Judging by the distance, it was roughly four or five hundred meters.
Old Gong said that a courtyard with lush leaves meant that the place should be the home of Xianyuan, but this entire street was like this, how could we find it?
“Oh my…” Old Gong widened his eyes, and sweat dripped from his ghostly head.
I noticed the change and stopped.
Old Gong's lips trembled even faster as he analyzed something. My eyes were extremely keen, scanning the entire street in an attempt to find any subtle clues.
Just then, this place was too ordinary, and I didn't see anything.
"Master... Keep going inside. Maybe... I mean, possibly, the most colorful flowers and the densest tree canopy in any of the houses will be where we find it." After a pause, Old Gong added: "And there's a scent... I can smell it."
I took a deep breath and walked deeper into the street.
The plants and vegetation in the courtyards on both sides were very similar, making it difficult to distinguish.
In a flash, I walked to the center of the street. What I saw before me was indeed a courtyard that was different from others. As it was already late autumn and near winter, most of the grass leaves on the plants in other courtyards had withered and fallen off. However, in the courtyard on the right, the leaves were still lush and green.
Moreover, as I looked at that courtyard, I felt a faint sense of being watched, as if there was something inside the courtyard staring at me.
Old Gong's head leaped up and directly fell into the courtyard.
He didn't have intestines below his neck; otherwise, he would be no different from the people using the headhunting technique in the ghost cabinet...
I was about to walk quickly over there.
A bright red shadow suddenly leaped out from the dark shadow of the tree and fell next to Old Gong. Its thin front paws raised abruptly, directly penetrating Old Gong's head!
It pulled up forcefully!
But Old Gong was a ghost; it only lifted a cloud of gray mist.
Old Gong seemed to be shocked, turning his head and spitting a thick phlegm directly at the face of the fox!
The distance was too close for the fox to dodge, and it gave out a high-pitched scream. Its claws scratched Old Gong's head again!
"Filthy beast, never-ending!"
Old Gong's half-top was now a cloud of gray mist. His mouth grew even wider in a bizarre way, and he bit down on the fox with all his might!
There was a muffled crunch, and the fox was bitten in half, not knowing how many bones were broken.
Old Gong spat, and it landed heavily.
But, after landing for only a second, it mysteriously leaped up and flew towards the window of the small two-story building!
Old Gong took a deep breath and shouted, "I can't kill it!"
I felt a chill in my heart as well. Suddenly, I recalled earlier when Old Gong bit the fox half-way through, and that beast still attacked me?
It was only killed by the bronze club!
I leaped over the courtyard wall, and Old Gong's head bounced as he dived through the door of the small two-story building.
I then kicked the door, and it clicked open with a loud bang.
At this critical moment, there was no time to carefully pick the lock.
The ground floor is the living room, and it is brightly lit, even a bit dazzling.
My eyes fell upon a slightly panicked individual. It was exactly Liang Yuh?
She was still dressed in those colorful and green clothes, with her head ornaments still in place.
By her side, right next to her, the injured fox was licking its chest.
There was another fox on her left, standing like a human. It had white hair and beard, and its eyes were exceptionally deep. It had lived for too long and was getting old enough to be considered an old spirit.
A chill ran down my spine. Glancing slightly to the side, I noticed four red-haired, extremely thin foxes staring at me with fierce eyes.
"You stinking woman, no wonder you're so smelly." Old Gong spat out a harsh sound and spat a mouthful of phlegm at the ground again.
"You ghostly creature, don't talk nonsense. I'll pull out your tongue if you don't believe me!" Liang Yuh was angry.
"Oh my, Uncle Gong is afraid that you'll bite your tongue. Do you believe me? I'll peel your clothes off!" Old Gong's head kept leaping forward as he advanced towards Liang Yuh.
The old fox next to Liang Yuh's side suddenly quivered its mouth, and its sharp teeth made a light clicking sound.
Then, Liang Yuh raised her hand and actually produced two talismans, which she snapped out with a sudden, flicking motion!
Old Gong's reaction was quick, and he retreated backwards, landing by my feet.
"Stinking and aggressive, all women from Jianghuang City are the same!" Old Gong hollered.
Liang Yuh's ears turned red, clearly unused to an opponent like Old Gong who spoke more quickly than he moved.
All of this happened too quickly, and the four foxes behind me surrounded me, ready to pounce at any moment.
The old fox on Liang Yuh's left side was staring at me straight in the eyes.
Suddenly, it seemed to twist its shape and lengthen a bit, becoming somewhat like Xianyuan.
My breathing suddenly became much more rapid.
At the same time, several soft sounds of whistling came from behind, as if several foxes were shooting towards me!
I was jolted awake, gripping tightly the bronze club in my hand, and I swung it across with all my might!
Two of the foxes were immediately hit and flew out, their bones broken and tendons snapped.
One of the others climbed onto my shoulder, while the other clutched at my side.
The one on my shoulder suddenly dug its claws into my right temple, slightly above the eyebrow. That moment, I felt like my scalp was about to be lifted off.
Old Gong's head shot up, and he bit down on the fox, tearing and shaking it twice before flinging it to the ground.
The other fox just leaped onto my chest when I had already regained my strength. With the bronze club, I pushed it up and hit its lower abdomen. It shrieked in pain, its body going limp as it fell off me.
I struck the bronze club down again, splitting its head in two, and it died a second time.
By now, the rain umbrella cover on the bronze club was torn almost in half, revealing the copper surface underneath.
At the other end, Liang Yuh was shocked out of her wits. Her eyes were filled with both worry and a thick sense of anger.
She turned her head and started to run back towards the back!
I raised the bronze club again and smashed the fox that had nearly ripped off my scalp.
Old Gong had already leaped towards Liang Yuh, and even though she managed to throw out two more talismans in panic, they didn't hit him.
Old Gong suddenly landed on her shoulder, and then disappeared in an instant. He was a ghost who had taken over her body.
"I told you not to cause trouble!" Liang Yuh's mouth spoke Old Gong's angry words, and she raised her hand, slapping herself on the face.
"Ow... It hurts...!" Old Gong trembled and howled out loud.
