Mysteriously, a sudden black energy struck, and Zhang Gan was taken away!
Chen Yun never even managed to see what the other party looked like.
Although the other person only said one sentence, he could still judge that this person was coming for him!
He believes that besides Lin Feiyun, there are no other enemies in this world. Now that the other party is coming for him, it is highly likely that it has something to do with Lin Feiyun.
Therefore, he becomes angrier and angrier towards Lin Feiyun, wanting to kill that witch immediately.
Now is not the time to consider whether or not to kill Lin Feiyun.
As Zhang Gan is one of the few closest friends that I have in this world and has been taken away by demons because of me, Chen Yun has no time to think about anything else.
He took out the Shen Xing symbol without hesitation and pasted it onto his legs, then ran straight to Luoyang.
The speed of the Shen Xing token is three times that of the Jia Ma token, and it can travel 2,400 li in a single night.
Now Chen Yun is only one thousand miles away from the Luoyang city, and he can reach there within a few hours at most.
The wind whistles in his ears and a dark cloud looms overhead.
Chen Yun, who was racing at high speed, had initially been thrown into disarray by his concern, all he wanted to do was hurry to the city of Luoyang and see what that dark mist was up to.
However, after racing for a considerable distance, perhaps because of the cold wind hitting his face, he suddenly realized.
"That dark mist can easily capture Brother Zhang beside me, and his cultivation must be so high that I can't even imagine it. If the other party is really targeting me, then even if I chase to Luoyang city, I will only end up as a tribute. "
Chen Yun thought as he ran at high speed, "But there's something quite strange. If it's aimed at me, and the other party clearly has the power to silently kill me just now, why would they go to all the trouble to capture Zhang Qian and make me come to Luoyang?"
He still cannot figure out the question for now.
However, Chen Yun is certain of one thing: if he goes alone, he will not only be unable to save Zhang Qian but may also end up dying with him.
"No!"
"I must find a powerful ally!"
Chen Yun's first instinct was to send a message back to the Taoist temple for help, but then he thought again. This place is over eight or nine thousand miles from Mount Zongnan, and it would take him a full day and night to reach there even with the Shen Xing token. Including the return journey, Zhang Qian might have already been killed by then.
It's too late to go back to the Taoist mountain.
So how can I find a powerful ally in Luoyang city?
Suddenly, Chen Yun remembered a person, a deity of unyielding righteousness!
That's right, Guan Er!
Didn't Guan Er say to me before that if one day I go to Luoyang, let me go to his temple to renew our friendship?
It is said that in the 24th year of the Jian'an era, after Sun Quan killed Guan Yu, he sent his head to Cao Cao, who buried it with the honors of a marquis in Luoyang.
That's why Guan Er has been protecting the people of Luoyang since he became a deity.
"I once had a brief encounter with Guan Er under the foot of Mount Zongnan and became friends. If the other party is truly as virtuous as recorded in the literature, I'm sure he won't ignore me if I go to him."
Chen Yun seemed to have come up with a plan.
Taking advantage of the fact that it was still daytime, Chen Yun knocked on the doors of nearby villages and kept asking locals where Guan Er's temple was.
"Sir, can you tell me where the Guan Di Temple is?"
"Guandi Temple? Taoist, are you referring to the Ksitigarbha Temple?"
"Yes, yes, the Guanyin Bodhisattva Temple."
"Oh, about three hundred li from here, there is a temple of Guanyin Bodhisattva in the Guanzhuang village. Additionally, in Luoyang city, there is a Wucheng King Temple, where Guan General, as one of the sixty-four famous generals throughout history, is also offered worship."
"Thank you, old man."
After learning the general location of Guan Er's temple, Chen Yun continued to ask a few more questions along the way and then headed straight towards the Guanyin Bodhisattva Temple.
About an hour later.
When Chen Yun arrived at Guanzhuang, he saw a magnificent temple with the title "Guanyin Zun Wang Temple" written on the plaque above.
It is important to know that Guan Er's status in Buddhism is very high. Although he is the Guanyin Bodhisattva, in terms of worship rituals, he is equal to the Bodhisattva Wei Tuo, which means he represents the Buddhist Dharma Protector.
Chen Yun noticed that the temple doors were shut tight, estimating that the temple keeper must have gone to sleep by now.
If it were usual, he might wait until morning, but in this emergency, he doesn't care whether he disturb the temple keeper's rest or not, and directly knocks on the temple door.
Thud, thud-thud.
A senior man's voice echoed inside, "Which donor is knocking so late at night?"
Chen Yun introduced himself and said, "I am Chen Yun, a disciple of the Zhengnan Mountain Qingyang Cave Daoist Temple and the Zhengyang Zhenren of the Shimen sect. I wish to pay respects to the King of Guanyin today and kindly ask for the convenience of opening the door."
As soon as he finished speaking, the door opened from inside.
A thin, white-bearded old monk, standing at six feet tall, appeared.
He bowed and said, "I am Hui Yuan, a disciple of Langshan Great Sage Bodhisattva. It's a pleasure to meet you, Chen Daoist."
The monk from Langshan Great Sage is said to be an incarnation of the Guanyin Bodhisattva or the Great Dharma King Bodhisattva. He has three disciples: Hui Yan, Hui An, and Mu Sha.
As for why Hui Yan, the senior monk, referred to himself as "poverty", it was because when Buddhism was first introduced in China, it tried to be as close as possible to Taoism. It was a common practice for Buddhist teachers to refer to themselves as "poverty".
This practice continued until after the Song Dynasty.
Especially during the Song Dynasty, the Buddha and Bodhisattvas in Buddhism were also referred to as "Great Awakened Golden Immortals," "Great Masters," and so on.
For example, why Guanyin Bodhisattva is called Guanyin Great Sage, it's because the Song Huizong decreed that Buddhism should change its name to "Great Awakened Golden Immortal" and others to "Great Masters," "Deacons," "Nuns" to "Nuns".
The term "golden immortal" usually refers to the Buddha, not the sacred immortals in Daoism.
Chen Yun was surprised to meet a famous figure in Buddhist history here.
He quickly bowed again and said, "I have met Hui Yan Daoist Friend. I did not know that you are a disciple of the Great Sage Bodhisattva, why are you at the Guanyin Temple?"
Hui Yuan smiled and said, "I came here today to give lectures on scriptures to all my Daoist brothers. They all went to sleep, but I felt inspired by the night air and couldn't sleep. I never thought that I would meet a Daoist friend here."
He stepped aside to make room, "Daoist friend, please come in."
Chen Yun thanked him and walked in.
After exchanging a few casual words, they entered the main hall to worship the Guanyin Zun Wang.
Hui Yan took out three sticks of incense, lit them, and handed them to Chen Yun.
Chen Yun accepted the incense and thanked him again. Then he knelt on the cushion and loudly said, "General Guan, Chen Yun has something to ask, I hope the King of Guanyin will appear to talk with me."
As soon as he finished speaking, a melody of ethereal sound echoed from the divine temple, followed by a burst of red light illuminating the place.
Chen Yun felt a terrifying pressure coming from there, and he quickly looked towards the red light in front of him.
This look did not go well.
Upon looking, Chen Yun was startled.
What he saw was that in the area where the red light was rising, there was a howling wind. Two rows of twenty or so yin soldiers were holding imperial symbols and banners that fluttered with the wind. In the middle of them, there was a jade and gem-laden palanquin lifted by eight yin soldiers.
The terrifying pressure was emanating from a burly man standing next to the palanquin, who was wearing a golden helmet and silver armor.
At this time, Hui Yan seemed to have seen it as well and quickly bowed and said, "I have seen the General Guan."
The man in golden helmet and silver armor replied with a bow, "Hui Yuan Venerable is polite. I am Guan Ping, following my father's command to invite Mr. Chen to the divine realm for a discussion. Would you like to join us?"
Chen Yun never expected that the man in the golden helmet and silver armor was Guan Yu's eldest son, Guan Ping.
He remembered that Guan Ping had not yet become a deity, according to official historical records, Guan Ping would not be promoted to Wuning Marquis and truly become a deity until the Song Dynasty period, and currently he was worshiped as the eldest son of Guan Yu.
In simpler terms, it's like a wild dharma, but since Guan Yu is willing to share his faith with his son, the deities and bodhisattvas turn a blind eye, and no one bothers Guan Ping.
Hui Yan smiled and waved, "When the yin spirit of Mr. Chen comes out, his body will be like a withered corpse. If it's not guarded by anyone and is mistaken by the temple monks as a corpse, it won't be good. I will be guarding here."
"Yes, thank you, venerable." Guan Ping said after smiling happily at Chen Yun, and then stretched out his hand towards the palanquin and said, "Mr. Chen, please."
Chen Yun said, "Thank you, General Guan."
Then he looked at Hui Yan, "Thank you, venerable, for guarding my physical body."
Hui Yan said, "No problem. Daoist friend, go fast and come back quickly."
After saying that, Chen Yun's yin spirit left his body and was invited by Guan Ping to sit in the palanquin.
...
He was in a daze all the way.
Chen Yun couldn't see his surroundings clearly.
After a while, Guan Ping's voice came from outside the palanquin, "Mr. Chen, we have arrived at the hall. Please get off the palanquin."
Chen Yun alighted from the palanquin and saw a magnificent palace before him, with three halls in the front, grand architecture, soaring eaves and rising corners, exuding an imposing and grand atmosphere.
He was surprised to find such magnificence in the divine realm.
Under Guan Ping's guidance, Chen Yun arrived at the main hall of the palace.
He looked around and found that the main hall had three rooms on each side, with tall halls, ornamental dragons on the roof, a bronze mirror in the middle, flying eaves and sloping tiles, with the signboard above the gate inscribed with "Loyal Liver and Chivalrous Bones" four characters.
Chen Yun watched with interest and then stepped inside.
Under the red pillars in the hall, Chen Yun sat on a drum stone and enjoyed the delicate carvings.
The two dragons on the two large columns seemed to be flying and alive. The double dragons grabbed the air in a spiral.
Looking up, he saw in the center of the hall a red lacquer long table with an intricately carved hollow image of a hundred birds paying homage to the phoenix, adorned with red paint. On the table sat an awe-inspiring figure: a god with a date-red face, phoenix-like eyes, three teeth, a beard of one and a half feet long, a sky-blue sash, red court robes, jade belts, and dark court boots. He was imposing without anger and was none other than the General Guan he had not seen for a long time.
On either side of General Guan, there were officials, who appeared to be even more like rulers of the underworld rather than Buddhist guardians.
Chen Yun quickly bowed and said, "Chen Yun greets General Guan."
"Ha ha," General Guan Chang stood up and walked slowly towards Chen Yun, smiling, "Mr. Chen, long time no see. How have you been?"
Chen Yun said, "Thanks to General Guan's great fortune, I am very good."
General Guan Chang looked very happy, "Come, come, Mr. Chen, it's been a long time since we last met. Let's play a few rounds of chess first and then talk."
Chen Yun would have liked to play chess with General Guan, but now he had an urgent matter to attend to. He said helplessly, "General Guan, I'm afraid I won't be able to play chess with you for a while. I have a favor to ask."
General Guan Chang looked over and asked, "Oh, what is it?"
Chen Yun had no choice but to come to General Guan for help, and naturally, he told him everything he knew without holding back.
At the end, he sighed and said, "I don't even know who the demon is that abducted my brother Zhang, so I thought I would come to ask General Guan..."
Upon hearing this, General Guan was outraged. "What demon dares to disturb the land of General Guan? Mr. Chen, wait for a moment. I will let my people investigate."
After speaking, General Guan raised his eyebrows and did not speak again. He raised his head and looked up at the sky, releasing a faint but terrifying energy.
It seemed he was communicating with someone else.
Chen Yun had no idea what was going on and had to stand there quietly waiting.
After a while, General Guan seemed to have finished his conversation, smiling and saying, "Within an hour, I will definitely find the demon who captured your elder brother Zhang. Mr. Chen, let's play two more rounds of chess?"
Hearing this, Chen Yun was overjoyed and quickly said, "Thank you, General Guan. Okay, let's play another round of chess."
With General Guan's guarantee, he knew that Zhang Qiang would be fine, so he could rest assured and began to play chess with General Guan.
They were leisurely playing chess, completely unaware that chaos had erupted outside.
The entire Yin soldiers in the Luoyang region were thrown into chaos because of this!
