Later, after breaking free, they chased after the mages and came to this small island, defeated the guards, and entered the tower.
Later, they encountered Elza who had also escaped.
Through Elza's story, they learned that Elza was once a slave who built the tower here. Later, together with Jellal, she led her comrades in resistance and overthrew the black mages who enslaved them.

Upon learning the truth, one of Elza's companions, named "Shu," in order to protect Elza from being hurt by Jellal, even used his own playing cards to seal Elza when she was not on guard, and vowed to go alone to defeat Jellal.
So the team was divided, with Shu and Elza heading to the top floor to fight Jellal, while Gray and another childhood friend of Elza's, Simon, followed to stop them. Lucy and Zubia came to find Natsu who initially entered the tower to save Happy.
"It seems things are quite complicated. Let's go first and find Natsu, then we'll regroup with Elza and them to leave this place."
George originally wanted to use the Shadow Swap technique to send Lucy and Zubia away first, but considering the oddness of the whole situation, the Paradise Tower still had two S-class enemies and an unknown powerful individual, Jellal.
He thought it would be better to regroup together before leaving.

Zubia is at least an S-class mage, and she could be quite helpful in battle. Lucy herself is not very powerful, but her spirit has some use.
