"That's supposed to be you being attacked."
Being pulled away from the library by Hermione, George thought to himself.
Now most of the young wizards in the school have gone to the Quidditch field, only he and Hermione and a few young wizards are still inside the school. The Basilisk is sure to attack Hermione, a muggle-born witch, first.
Especially for Voldemort, Hermione is Harry's good friend.
However, George is not worried about this. He intended to lure the Basilisk out, clear Hagrid's name, and temporarily send Dumbledore away from the school.
It's a good opportunity now.
"Here I come!"
George sensed the presence of the Basilisk not long after he had left the library, at an intersection.
His telepathic ability is not as powerful as the professors', but he can still sense a small area around him. The Basilisk's overwhelming hostility is just too obvious.
"George, something feels off."
Hermione suddenly stopped in her tracks and spoke in a trembling voice. "George, something seems to be wrong."
Because she faintly heard the sound of the Basilisk moving towards them from behind.
"Don't turn around, it might be the Basilisk. If you see its eyes, you're as good as dead."
"Follow me, keep going!"
George held Hermione's trembling hand and quickly walked towards the stairs.
As George and Hermione picked up their pace, the Basilisk seemed to sense their movement and suddenly accelerated, charging towards them.
As she heard the increasingly close sound behind them, Hermione's legs felt weak. However, as a Gryffindor wizard, she was indeed brave enough to say to George:
"George, go find Dumbledore and tell him about the Basilisk. I'll hold it off!"
Saying this, she actually drew her own wand.
However, George immediately wrapped his arms around Hermione's waist and pulled out his wand.
"Trust me, we can get away from this. Close your eyes and do not look at the Basilisk's eyes!"
Feeling the Basilisk's presence so close behind them, George cast the "Wingardium Leviosa" spell instantly, growing a pair of pure white wings, and lifted Hermione off the ground, soaring away to avoid the Basilisk's gaping maw.
At the same time, he waved his wand and cast a spell towards the ground.
"Aimed shot."
A transparent blade flew out of the wand and struck directly at the Basilisk's raised snake head.
The Basilisk's magical defense was incredibly strong, and the "Aimed Shot" spell did not break through its defense. However, it still caused it to lower its massive snake head in pain.
George took the opportunity to accelerate and continue flying towards the staircase.
At this moment, Hermione, who had been unexpectedly lifted off the ground, instinctively clung to George and buried her head in his chest, screaming.
"George, you... you can fly?"
"It's not the time to talk about this now."
George continued to flap his wings to accelerate, while the Basilisk pursued them from behind.
In reality, George was in control of the situation, as he had not yet reached the limit of his flying speed. He was mainly afraid that the Basilisk would give up the pursuit.
Even when the distance between them was increasing, he would deliberately slow down his flying speed.
If the Basilisk showed any signs of giving up, he would casually wave his wand to cast another "Aimed Shot" spell towards the back to provoke it further.
At least today, we have to make a bigger commotion. Even if we don't make the teachers and students in the school see it, we have to let the characters in those paintings on the staircase see the Basilisk, so that people can believe it.
Otherwise, with only their words, they won't be able to prove that they encountered the Basilisk instead of the eight-eyed giant spider.
"Oh my God, what is that?"
"It's so terrifying, hide!"
"Poor little wizard, run quickly!"
Finally, through George's continuous lure, the Basilisk was led to the one hundred and forty-two moving staircases at Hogwarts, which were all watched by the characters in the paintings on the walls.
Seeing that their purpose had been achieved, George directly carried Hermione and flew upwards at the staircase entrance. The Basilisk, unable to follow them up the moving staircases, let out an angry snarl before retreating into a nearby drainpipe.
"Dumbledore should be in the area near the Quidditch field. Let's go directly there."
After getting rid of the Basilisk, George did not stop to linger. He flew to the eighth floor, found a window, and flew out with Hermione.
As long as they found Dumbledore and explained the situation, everything would be sorted out.
The flying magic he demonstrated is, of course, a spell of his own creation.
Snape could have invented spells like "Aimed Shot" and "The Disarming Charm" during his student days, so it's not out of the question that he could have created a flying spell, though it would be a stretch.
Who knows, George. You've always been so outstanding in everyone's eyes.
The continuous creation of the talent persona before was also to pave the way for today.
Although he's only in his first year, talent is always unreasonable, isn't it?
As George was thinking about what to say when they arrived at the Quidditch pitch, he didn't notice that Hermione, who was holding him, looked at him with a few things in her eyes that were different from before.
"Hey, today is the fourth match of the Quidditch game, Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw, and now let's welcome..." Hermione trailed off, her eyes widening in shock. "Oh my God, what am I seeing?"
On the stands, the announcer Jordan was preparing to announce the entry of both teams' Quidditch players, amidst the cheers of all the young wizards in school.
The result was that he suddenly saw George, holding Hermione and flying in the sky above the pitch, and he was stunned.
Of course, it was not just him who was stunned, but all the young wizards in the school.
"There!"
George flew to the Quidditch pitch and looked around to find Dumbledore sitting on the professor's side, and directly flew over to him.
"George, what's going on?"
Seeing George fold his wings and put Hermione down, Snape was the first to react, standing up.
George didn't waste any time, getting straight to the point and saying:
"The headmaster and headmistress, just now, my friend Hermione and I were attacked by the Basilisk near the library."
After hearing George and Hermione's account, all the professors collectively drew in a sharp breath.
Dumbledore's expression showed a hint of surprise, not so much because he didn't believe that the monster in the Chamber was a Basilisk, but more because he couldn't believe that George and Hermione had actually managed to escape its pursuit.
In fact, George had always been uncertain whether Dumbledore knew about the Basilisk. He guessed that he did, but whether or not he truly knew, only Dumbledore himself could answer.
"Miller, inform everyone that the Quidditch match is cancelled. All students should remain on the pitch here. After we've checked the school, we'll return to the common room."
Professor McGonagall nodded seriously, and then used the Expelliarmus spell to convey Dumbledore's orders loudly.
"Very good work, Slytherin and Gryffindor each earn twenty points."
Dumbledore nodded kindly at George and Hermione before, accompanied by Professor Snape, Flitwick, and other professors, he went towards the castle, while Professor McGonagall stayed behind at the Quidditch pitch to maintain order.
