Fifty-seventh Chapter: Surrounding Guanyin Hindered by Heavenly Warfare

Genres:Martial Arts and Xianxia Last update:25/03/24 18:08:19
The descendants of the Vermilion Bird and the descendants of the Phoenix all fell into defeat.

However, there is still one breath left in the descendants of the Vermilion Bird, who are currently barely hanging on.

The descendants of the Phoenix Bird were almost reduced to ashes after being burned, and if it wasn't for a bright red feather still intact and fluttering, one might even doubt whether they ever truly existed.

The crowd of spectators, gazing at Chen Yun's figure suspended in mid-air, all froze in their tracks for a moment.

Previously, everyone had witnessed the powerful capabilities of the descendants of the Vermilion Bird.

By combining forces, Chen Yun and Yan Feng used their signature abilities, barely managing to defeat the enemy.

As descendants of the super treasure guardians, the Phoenix Bird descendants should be able to hold their own against the Vermilion Bird descendants in terms of strength.

Indeed, everyone has witnessed the formidable abilities of the descendants of the Phoenix Bird.

Initially, when it was being suppressed and beaten by Chen Yun, its strength was not apparent.

However, after the surge of yin and yang energies, the displayed strength had already surpassed that of the Vermilion Bird descendants.

According to the situation when Chen Yun and Yan Feng joined forces against the Vermilion Bird descendants earlier.

In theory, Chen Yun would not have any chance of winning alone.

This has actually been verified by everyone.

At that time, Chen Yun was indeed being suppressed and the situation was very dangerous.

However, by producing a qing lamp, he promptly reversed the battle scenario and burned to death the descendants of the Phoenix Bird.

It should be known that the descendants of the Vermilion Bird and the descendants of the Phoenix Bird live in a place near the "Southern Pole" where the sun rises from the Sun Pool Cavern, bathed in sunlight.

As they inherently belong to the "fire-type" super spiritual beast, they naturally have strong "fire resistance".

In other words, even a powerful godfire, to hurt the descendants of the Vermilion Bird and the descendants of the Phoenix Bird, is a very difficult task.

Now, the golden flame that spewed out from Chen Yun's qing lamp has managed to completely incinerate the descendant of the Phoenix Bird, who possesses a high level of "fire attribute" and "fire resistance"?

This can only mean one thing.

It means that the golden flame's power that everyone saw has actually been "weakened" significantly.

If Chen Yun were to use this qing lamp against others or super spiritual beasts, it could unleash even greater power!

Perhaps the golden flame produced by the qing lamp can only be withstood by truly divine and celestial beasts or birds with high levels of "fire attribute" and "fire resistance".

Such as the Fire Qilin, Vermilion Bird, Phoenix and Phoenix Bird of the Heavy Light, etc.

These super divine beasts and birds are existence that are comparable to immortals!

Why do people think that these super divine beasts and birds can withstand the golden flame?

The answer is actually quite simple.

Because although the golden flame from Chen Yun incinerated the descendant of the Phoenix Bird, its essence-filled phoenix feather wings remained intact and undamaged, as if unaffected.

This is enough to show that if a real Phoenix Bird were to face the golden flame, it would not be scorched or injured in the slightest.

Therefore, even more powerful fire attribute divine beasts and birds like the Fire Qilin, Vermilion Bird, and Phoenix would not fear the golden flame spewed out by this qing lamp.

As for whether other attribute divine beasts and birds can resist, this is something that everyone currently does not know.

Yan Feng stared in awe at the location of the basin, taking a deep breath and said, "Chen Zhenren's divine artifact truly possesses terrifying power."

With a glimmer of fear in his eyes, Niudali's gaze took on a shade of respect. He nodded solemnly, "Indeed, if the old ox were to be tainted with even a single strand of golden flame, it would instantly be consumed to nothingness. This formidable divine artifact is so powerful that even most immortals dare not confront it head-on. They can only dodge its might temporarily. I wonder if heavenly immortals can withstand such power."

"Whether the heavenly immortals can withstand the power of the golden flame, I am unaware." Jingchen master Ta analyzes: "However, if the immortals know about the power of the golden flame and make preparations, they should still be able to avoid being burned to death. After all, once they reach that realm, some enlightened mortals have already comprehended the true path of heaven and earth and understand the force of law. Moreover, even if some mortals who have not yet grasped the power of law still possess the ability to traverse countless realms and worlds, they can avoid being burned by escaping from the golden flame. Therefore, to annihilate all immortals using this qing lamp is only possible under one condition - surprise attack. Even so, this qing lamp is still quite powerful as it has a chance to completely burn down all immortals."

The three of them were gaping in amazement at the sight of the "world-shattering" golden flame that had incinerated everything in its path. Their hearts were filled with excitement and shock.

Niudali suddenly spoke up: "Master Ta, your meaning is that the immortals' realm may be able to withstand it with preparation, but even if the earth immortals' realm has prepared for it, they still won't be able to withstand it?"

Yan Feng couldn't help but look over.

Master Ta shook her head and said, "If the earth immortals' realm doesn't possess any divine artifacts that can control this qing lamp, it's almost impossible for them to survive. The golden flame erupts with incomparable speed and has an extremely wide spread. Only the heavenly immortals' realm or above have a chance of surviving."

Upon saying this, she seemed to remember something and added, "Oh, I recall someone who doesn't have the cultivation of a heavenly immortal but can withstand the power."

    "Who?"

    "Which one?"

Yan Feng and Niudali asked curiously.

Master Ta suddenly turned towards the eastern position, staring at the boundless Solar Fire. "Long Zhan Tian, you have been hiding in the shadows for so long. Now, isn't it time for you to reveal yourself?"

Upon hearing this, Yan Feng and Niudali's expressions changed drastically. They quickly followed Master Ta's gaze towards the direction she was looking at.

As expected, from the endless surging of the true sun fire, a shadow slowly materialized.

    "Well done, Master Jingchen."

A crisp sound of admiration was heard from the front, "I'm curious, how did you discover my presence?"

As the words fell, a figure with a human body and a snake tail, dignified and majestic, appeared in front of them. It was Long Zhan Tian, who had been waiting in the shadows for a long time!

Master Ta said calmly, "I have cultivated the Buddhist divine ear 'tripitaka' this great spiritual attainment. Although I haven't reached the stage where I can hear the languages and sounds of all beings in the Three Realms and Six Paths, as well as all things in the world, without any obstacles, I found it wasn't difficult to discover you hiding in the shadows."

Long Zhan Tian nodded appreciatively, "At the later stages of the human immortal realm, being able to cultivate the 'tripitaka' divine ear to a certain level and realm is no small feat. You are among the most gifted practitioners in the Buddhist realm."

The first sentence was still praise.

However, the next moment, Long Zhan Tian's gaze changed, and his tone became stern, "Considering your hardships in cultivation, I will allow you to leave now and spare your life!"

Master Ta suddenly burst into laughter and chanted the Buddha's name while joining her palms together, "Namo Amitabha, all beings suffer, and all phenomena are void. My Buddha comprehends profound wisdom, surveys the Three Realms from the depths, and sees the fundamental origin as finally extinguished and at one with emptiness, having nothing. Therefore, what is death but to accept it? Since I began my cultivation, I have longed for a day of nirvana. Long Zhan Tian, if you want my life, go ahead and take it."

Yan Feng and Niudali felt as if they were facing a formidable enemy.

Long Zhan Tian didn't rush to attack. Instead, he coldly laughed and said, "After I start attacking, you might not even have the opportunity for nirvana!"

Master Ta spoke softly, "Nirvana means no rebirth, and disintegration means no extinction. Being neither born nor extinct is called great nirvana. There is no birth or death, and the original serenity remains. What opportunity is there to speak of?"

Long Zhan Tian narrowed his eyes slightly and said, "You old nun, do you have the determination to obstruct my path?"

Master Ta smiled gracefully, "The path is right in front of you. When have I ever hindered your steps?"

Upon speaking this, waves of mysterious Buddhist sounds resounded from all around.

Dozens of sutras composed of divine light, like celestial maids scattering flowers, kept descending from the void in the sky.

The ground was even more radiant with Buddha's light, bursting forth one after another blooming golden lotus flowers, each about the size of a fist.

Flowers rained from the sky, and golden lotuses surged from the ground.

The Buddhist sounds resounded continuously, as if they were assimilating the heavens and earth.

Just as Yan Feng and Niudali blinked, they saw Master Ta, at some point, shining with Buddha's light all over her body. Her form remained the same as before but seemed to have grown to tens of thousands of zhang in height. A giant wheel of merit also appeared behind Master Ta's head.

There was no release of any power.

There was only a continuous, awe-inspiring Buddhist sound that made one unable to resist kneeling and worshipping.

When the Buddha's light rippled, Yan Feng and Niudali, for some unknown reason, had a sense of "kind-heartedness" born deep within their hearts. They felt an overwhelming urge to kneel down immediately and convert to Buddhism.

Even Yan Feng, a fellow human immortal of the late stage, was affected so greatly. It can be imagined just how profound the Buddhist teachings Master Ta is practicing at this moment!

What is even more surprising is that Long Zhan Tian standing in front of them has not been affected at all.

Despite the vast sea of Buddha's light enveloping everything, Long Zhan Tian seemed like a small boat in the vast sea, yet remained as steady as a mountain.

Long Zhan Tian looked down upon her and said with disdain, "It's better to see for oneself than to hear about it. I thought the renowned Master Jingchen was incredibly powerful, but it turns out she's not much different."

Master Ta did not respond at all and simply chanted sutras, "In the past, at a certain time, the Buddha was in a thicket of the Giving Grove of the Monk Gopi in the city of Savaxa. He was accompanied by a gathering of over 1,250 arhat monks. At that time, the World Honored One had finished his meal and put on his robes. Holding his alms bowl, he entered the great city of Savaxa to beg for food. After having completed his rounds in the city, he returned to his original place. After finishing his meal, he put away his robes and bowl, washed his feet, and sat down on a seat."

As the first chapter of the "Diamond Sutra," titled "The Causes of the Assembly," was recited from her mouth.

Suddenly, one by one, those rays of Buddhist light enveloped the entire sky and land, evolving into a scene similar to the Jigong Hall at the monastery.

Jigong Hall was not large, only about one li in circumference. However, around it, Bodhisattvas and Buddha figures sat or stood with flowers in hand, laughing, giving people a sense of arriving in the Pure Land.

Yan Feng and Niudali couldn't discern the intricacies and were simply puzzled.

Looking at the opponent standing opposite him, Long Zhan Tian revealed a faint excited color and said, "Your Buddhist cultivation has reached this level? Very good, truly very good. Jingchen, you deserve to be my opponent. However, if you want to use the Jigong Hall evolved by your Buddhist practice to trap me, it's just a dream!"

After speaking, Long Zhan Tian was jolted throughout his entire body.

A mysterious and immense power burst forth from within his body, spreading outwards in all directions.

In an instant, countless cracks appeared in the Jigong Hall, as if it was about to shatter at any moment.

Yan Feng and Niudali looked at each other, realizing that Master Ta had already been engaged in a battle with Long Zhan Tian.

They couldn't help but clench their fists in silence, hoping Master Ta could stop Long Zhan Tian.

Master Ta did not panic and continued to recite the second chapter of the "Diamond Sutra," titled "The Opening of Wonders": "At that time, the elder Shu Pubei arose from his seat among the assembly, revealing his right shoulder and kneeling on his right knee with his palms joined in a gesture of respect. He respectfully addressed the Buddha and said: 'How rare! The World Honored One! The Tathagata gently protects all Bodhisattvas and gives them good instructions. World Honored One! How should a good man or a good woman who has developed the Anuttarasamyakasamadhi mind stay and how should they subdue their minds?' The Buddha replied: 'Very well, very well. Shu Pubei! As you say, the Tathagata gently protects all Bodhisattvas and gives them good instructions. Now please listen attentively! I will tell you: How should a good man or a good woman who has developed the Anuttarasamyakasamadhi mind stay and how should they subdue their minds?' 'Indeed so, World Honored One! I wish to hear with delight.'”

As the sound of the Buddhist sutra rippled, suddenly a bodhi tree grew within the Jigong Hall.

This bodhi tree soared towards the sky, emitting shimmering light as if full of relics. It filled the entire sky, with white and red rays spreading north and south.

In an instant, the cracks in the Jigong Hall were layer by layer, and the relics' light spread throughout the world.

Long Zhan Tian, who had stood there motionless, involuntarily took a small step backward when facing the light of the relics.

The fair and tender face of Master Ta also showed a faint flush.

Yan Feng and Niudali felt secretly relieved, thinking that Master Ta had taken the upper hand.

Despite this, the excitement in Long Zhan Tian's eyes grew more intense.

"Very good! Very good! Very good!" She called out three times, "I had previously underestimated you. You were able to cultivate to such a level by relying on a single 'Diamond Sutra'. Jingchen, you are truly impressive. However, if your abilities are only this, you will not be able to defeat me, Long Zhan Tian. I advise you to show more of your true colors!"

As he spoke, a glint of light flashed in Long Zhan Tian's eyes, and his overall aura changed.

An invisible and intangible great power instantly dispersed the light of the relics.

Even the enormous bodhi tree began to wither.

Yan Feng and Niudali's expressions suddenly changed drastically.

Neither Yan Feng nor Niudali had expected that, even with Master Ta's exquisite Buddhist practice, she was still unable to hold Long Zhan Tian in the least.

Master Ta remained calm and continued to recite the third chapter of the "Diamond Sutra," titled "The Exposition of the Great Vehicle": "The Buddha told Shu Pubei: 'Bodhisattvas should subdue their minds in this way! All kinds of beings: whether they are born from eggs, or from their mother's womb, or from water, or by magic transformation; whether they are of color or without color; whether they have mind or no mind, or neither having nor not having mind - I will cause them all to enter complete nirvana and be released from the cycle of birth and death. In this way, I release an infinite number of beings and yet there is none who truly gains release. Why? Shu Pubei! If a bodhisattva has a self-image, a human image, an animal image, a mass image, or an old age image, then he is not truly a bodhisattva.'”

With her recitation of the sutras, her physical form underwent a drastic transformation.

At this moment, Master Ta seemed to have transformed into a brilliantly radiant beam of Buddha's light.

In the next moment, a vast and boundless statue of the Four-Faced Guanyin Bodhisattva gradually emerged from the Buddhist light.

The statue of the Four-Faced Guanyin Bodhisattva was composed of the Bodhisattva of the Law Wheel, the Bodhisattva of the Pure Bottle, the Bodhisattva of Sending Children, and the Bodhisattva of the Lotus Flower.

Yan Feng and Niudali could only catch a glimpse of it before feeling trembled with fear.

The statue of the Four-Faced Guanyin Bodhisattva was so awe-inspiring that it was eighty billion "namelike" Ganges river 's "li" long, with a purple-golden body, a peony-shaped bun on the top of its head, and a circular glow around its neck. Each face was hundreds of thousands of li long, and there were five hundred transformations of Buddha within its circular glow!
