Chapter 434 Mr. Chen, a true grandmaster indeed

A star shines brightly one by one.

    Infinite planets orbit.

There are vast and desolate moons as well.

And comets, asteroids, and the like.

It seemed that the extinction array had turned into the true universe space at that moment.

Liang Zhen watched in great shock.

All the cultivators and soldiers outside showed surprised expressions.

No one expected that Chen Yun would use the Ten-Direction Extinction Array to evolve into the scene before their eyes.

    "This..."

"Mr. Chen has evolved into suns, moons, and stars?"

"How come there are so many suns and moons?"

"Our world doesn't only have alternating days and months, does it?"

Everyone was in awe when they saw the environment inside the great array.

Huang Wanyou looked puzzled at first, "So many shining suns and stars?"

Caifujin seemed to have thought of something and guessed: "My inner sect cultivate to the Yangshen realm, my divine light will illuminate all heavens and ten thousand realms. Could it be that my uncle Chen's intention refers to the appearance of Yangshen divine light projection in all ten thousand realms?"

"That's possible," said Mr. Geng in agreement, then his expression turned puzzled, "But I used my magic power to scan the universe, and although it was blurred, the shape was somewhat similar to what Mr. Chen has evolved into a universe. The only difference is that the true stars and constellations of the universe shine brightly, but these so-called stars in front of us look more like planets, which is truly perplexing."

Zhang Jianming kept staring at the cosmic appearance inside the great array, watching and observing. "Although the universe evolved by Mr. Chen with the Ten-Direction Extinction Array is different from the universe we know, for some reason, just by watching the evolution process, I had a new understanding of Tao, as if my realm had been elevated slightly."

"Yes, I have the same feeling."

"Yes, my Qi cultivation has been stuck at the late stage of the Upper-level Sorcerer, for over a hundred years without any progress. But now, after observing Mr. Chen evolving the universe, it feels as if the Qi is surging like water, as if I'm about to break through."

"Whether the universe evolved by Mr. Chen is like the true universe or not, simply by watching the process, I have gained infinitely. This only proves that Mr. Chen's understanding of Tao is far beyond ours, and he can also demonstrate it through the Ten-Direction Extinction Array, allowing us to observe and learn."

A group of cultivators were exclaiming over there.

They didn't know what was going on with the universe evolved by Chen Yun.

The only thing that is clear is that, after seeing the entire process of this universe evolving, everyone's understanding of cultivation and Tao has been elevated to a new level.

All the cultivators in their hearts quietly exclaimed, Mr. Chen, a real grandmaster.

    ...

    Inside the great array.

Liang Zhen stood in the endless starry sky and said in awe, "This... What is this place?"

Controlling the entire situation, wielding the divine sword, and still evolving as much as possible, Chen Yun said faintly, "The universe."

Liang Zhen denied immediately, "Impossible, the universe is not like this."

Chen Yun knew why Liang Zhen said that.

Because the ancient understanding of the universe was different from the modern one.

There were three types of universe views in ancient times.

The first one, which could be translated as: the sky is round like a canopy and the earth is square like a chessboard.

The Gaitian view is a very ancient universe view of the Han nationality, which had already emerged as early as the Shang and Zhou dynasties.

In the eyes of the ancients, the earth was a flat and square land, and the sky was like a round roof covering the entire earth.

That is what we commonly say "Heaven is round, and the earth is square."

The ancients believed that the sky and the earth were connected, merging into one.

However, with the development of time, some people later proposed that in fact, the sky and the earth do not actually touch each other.

The sky, although covering the earth, could not cover the four corners because the earth was square.

Therefore, some people believed that there were eight pillars at the four corners to support the entire sky.

Later, the myth of Nuwa standing at the extreme pole and breaking the claws of the giant aquatic creature was born.

The Gaitian view is found in the "Jinshu: On Astronomy".

It records: "It is said that the sky is like a canopy and the earth is like a lid. The sky and the earth are both centrally elevated and peripherally lower. Below the North Pole is the center of the heavens and the earth, where the land is highest, surrounded by the vastness of four directions. The three luminaries (the sun, moon, and stars) alternately shine and hide, creating day and night. The height in the middle of the sky above the equator at winter solstice is sixty thousand li. Below the North Pole, the height of the land above the equator is also sixty thousand li. Two million li above this is where the outer equatorial land lies higher than below the North Pole. The elevation of heaven and earth rises together; sunlight always travels eighty thousand li from Earth."

According to this view, the sky and the earth are both dome-shaped, with an eighty-thousand-li gap between them.

The famous Chinese philosopher Wang Zhen of the Eastern Han Dynasty believed that "Now let's try to have a person hold a large torch, walk on flat land at night, go ten li away from the person, and the firelight will be extinguished; it is not extinguished, but distance makes it so. Today, when the sun sets and turns westward, it no longer appears; this is similar to extinguishing fire."

Secondly, there is the "Hun Tian Theory," which is currently the mainstream view in the world.

The basic view of the "Hun Tian Theory" is that all the stars in the sky are arranged on a "sky ball."

The sun, moon, and stars are all attached to the sky ball and keep moving continuously.

From this perspective, it is undoubtedly similar to modern spheric astronomy.

Why is it called "Hun Tian"?

And what is the view of this theory on the universe and earth?

The description of the Hun Tian Theory can be found in Zhang Heng's "Observatory Illustrations."

It records: "The heaven is like an egg. The heavenly body is as round as a pellet, the land is like the yolk of an egg, isolated in the middle of the sky, where the sky is large and the earth is small. There is water inside the shell of the sky, which contains the earth, similar to how an eggshell envelops yolk. The sky and the earth stand on their respective atmospheres and float on water. The complete orbit of the sky is 365 degrees plus four fifths of a degree, divided into two halves, half covers 182 degrees 8/5 over land, half wraps around it under land, so 28 constellations are half visible and half hidden. Their two ends are called north and south poles. The North Pole is at the center of heaven; it's in due north and rises above ground by 36 degrees. Then, above North Pole's equatorial diameter (circle passing through poles) would be 72 degrees in radius; therefore, it is always visible. The South Pole is also at the center of heaven; it's in due south and goes below ground by 36 degrees. Its equatorial diameter (circle passing through poles) has a radius of 72 degrees; thus it's always hidden under ground level. Two poles are separated by more than half of 182 degrees from each other. As if turning like a hub that runs endlessly, without end to its form; therefore it's called 'Hun Tian'.”

The third one is the Xuan Ye Theory: "The sky is devoid of substance."

From the first two astronomical views, either the Gaitian Theory or the Hun Tian Theory, the celestial bodies are viewed as spheres, which is a concept of solid substance.

Compared to these two views, the Xuan Ye Theory is undoubtedly a intellectual revolution.

The Xuan Ye Theory holds that "the sun, moon, and stars naturally float in the void, and their movement and rest both require the influence of qi (vital energy)."

That is, the entire celestial body floats in the gas.

In fact, the Xuan Ye Theory originated from an extremely early period.

For example, in Zhuangzi's "Freedom to Be Free," it is said: "Is the sky, so vast and boundless, its true color blue? Or is it so far away that it is beyond reach?"

That is, the entire universe is constituted by qi (vital energy), and it is infinite.

Later, Song Jiang and Yin Wen inherited Zhuangzi's concept of yuanqi (prime material), tracing the origin of all things in the world back to "yuanqi."

Indeed, the Xuan Ye Theory is already very close to what we understand of the universe today.

Or, the universe in this realm is actually the view of the Xuan Ye Theory.

The only difference is that there are no stars or planets within the universe.

    There are only true stars.

Stars shining through the myriad realms and heavens.

As a great master in the Taoist school, Liang Zhen naturally has observed the universe and knows what it looks like.

That's why, after seeing the universe evolved by Lu Lie, he would immediately deny it.

Chen Yun also knew what the universe in this realm looked like.

He also didn't know why the universe would transform into that form later.

Thoughtfully, Chen Yun said faintly, "There are countless universes in the path of righteousness. The Daoist scriptures say that Yuan Shishi Tianzun (Supreme Primordial Sovereign): Throughout all ten thousand realms in the universe, they are shattered into dust particles. In each particle is a realm of endless universes. It continues to shatter these infinite realms into dust particles, using this dust number to compare with my body light which is ten billion million times greater than one particle; none of them has been found. But there is no end outside endlessness, and there is no end within infinity. Endlessness without end, infinity without infinity. Liang Dao brother, are you certain that every world and universe in the Ten Thousand Realms is like the one we inhabit?"

Liang Zhen pondered silently for a long time, and finally, as if enlightened, he raised his head and bowed deeply to Chen Yun, saying, "Chen Dao brother, I have learned from you."

Chen Yun smiled and looked over, "It should be me thanking you for using the Ten Thousand Method Eradication Array to evolve a model of a universe."

Liang Zhen was taken aback and asked in confusion, "A model of a universe? Chen Dao brother, what do you mean by that?"

This time, Chen Yun didn't explain.

Yes, although he seemed to have evolved a universe using the incredible power of the Ten Thousand Method Eradication Array, in reality, he had not.

The power of the Ten Thousand Method Eradication Array is somewhat "weak," not enough to evolve a genuine universe.

Alternatively, it's even impossible to evolve a real "solar system."

Chen Yun had simply condensed the universe range observable by humans, 930 billion light years, into a size similar to Earth.

Um, after fully mastering the Ten Thousand Method Eradication Array, he probably knows the magnitude of this array.

Perhaps at the level of planets.

So, if we follow the setup that only immortals can break the array.

Chen Yun might speculate that immortals are at least at the level of stars that explode, or in other words, at the stellar level.

As long as it depends on his own power, he definitely cannot achieve a stellar level. It is reasonable to say that he cannot control the array.

In fact, if Chen Yun does not have the qi (vital energy) of the Thunder and Lightning Grand Sage in his body, even with the help of Nangming Li Huo Qiji and the Five Elements Divine Sword, he cannot break the array. The best he can do is to occupy a small part of the endless gray airflow as it was at first, and then desperately defend himself. Eventually, he would be swallowed up by the power of the array.

The Qi of the Thunder and Lightning Grand Sage is different; if it can be completely refined, it is enough to help someone attain enlightenment and become an immortal.

Therefore, the "quality" of this cluster of divine energy is actually far beyond a stellar level.

In addition, Chen Yun also manifested a golden demon god avatar.

The strength has actually reached an infinite proximity to a stellar level.

As long as there is some assistance from the divine energy of immortals, he can successfully break the array.

Of course, breaking the array cannot be avoided without wasting some of the divine energy of the Thunder and Lightning Grand Sage.

Chen Yun estimated that he wasted about one-tenth of the divine energy.

This will definitely have some impact on his future cultivation to attain enlightenment and become an immortal.

It looks like he has made a loss.

Actually, Chen Yun was well aware in his heart that this time he had made a huge profit.
