Chapter 1078: Beaten and dusty

Genres:Sci-Fi and Supernatural Last update:25/03/21 12:26:29
Gazing at the man beside the pool of blood, whose face was lined with sorrow and fatigue, and at his disfigured body, Selene and Erebus, the two subordinates most enraged by the betrayal of Trak Grayvis, felt their disappointment and anger fade. They watched him with sorrowful eyes, unable to express their inner turmoil.

There is no doubt that this man has made a grave mistake.

He has protected a group of evil dark creatures who should have been put on trial, who have helped them smuggle and hunt magical beings over the years, and even committed serious crimes such as killing for the tooth they wanted in Ammott's hand, if judged by American wizard law, he would undoubtedly be sentenced to death.

But they could not blame him for doing so.

He received an evil curse while pursuing the right dream and upholding justice, a curse that destroyed his dreams and the expectations of his family. In a sense, he merely wanted to survive.

Sirius watched the man whose life had no connection with his own, feeling complicated.

"Are you not worried? Have you never considered?"

Sirius's gray eyes narrowed slightly, and he looked at the vampires they were tracking tonight, subtly. Through Grayvis's description, he knew they were not of one mind.

"If these vampires are just using you. They may just want to revive their ancestors?"

Not only Morguan, but all the vampires surrounding them turned a uniform shade of horror upon hearing Sirius's words, and their gaze towards him was filled with murderous intent.

Morguan's lips moved, eager to explain something to Grayvis, but Grayvis raised his hand to interrupt him.

"I used magic and truth serum to interrogate the vampire leader I captured, and I'm sure the method I obtained is genuine."

"You want to clear the shame of your grandfather Percy Grayvis and uphold the glory of the Grayvis family, but your actions are at odds with your dreams."

    "Sirius said,"

"You're trying to revive a dark being you know nothing about, and it may lift your curse, but have you considered the potential harm it could bring to the American magical community, and to the witches here?"

"We are not that mysterious man—"

    Morgans said coldly,

    "We never seek simple killing."

    "Oh, really?"

    Sirius's tone was contemptuous.

"If you don't pursue killing, but according to what Grayvis just said, for centuries, you have killed many innocent people and magical creatures to revive your ancestors, isn't that right?"

"You mentioned that blob of blood you threw into the café—"

"Amelia, who was silent for half a while, stared at Morgans suddenly, and spoke coldly, "

"Ammott told me that the evil substance was bound to many human souls. It came from the vampire you want to revive, didn't it?"

"I've already said, we do not seek simple killing—"

Facing the accusations of Sirius and Amelia, Morgans remained unmoved.

"But we are vampires, our food is human blood, would humans feel remorse for the slaughtered cattle and sheep?"

This is a topic that will never have a definitive conclusion. When wizards categorized vampires as a special type of magical creature, they had stipulated that they could only drink the blood of specially provided magical beings, and were not allowed to touch the blood of wizards or Muggles. Hunting humans or wizards for this purpose is an unforgivable serious crime.

Of course, vampires are not satisfied with this. Morgans' view represents the most extreme individuals among the vampire community.

However, if they do not follow the rules of more powerful wizards in the Muggle world, which is opposed by the Church, then there is no place for them in this world.

Amelia couldn't help but want to argue, but Grayvis glanced at Morgans sideways and raised his hand again to interrupt Amelia.

"Thank you for your reminder and advice, Mr. Black –"

Grayvis pointed his wand at the fragments of clothing on the ground, put his clothes back on, and then with gentlemanly courtesy, nodded at Black.

"Is there anything else you need me to clarify? Selene, Erebus, why have you been keeping silent all this time?"

The two subordinates who had received his favor in the past just looked at him, and the sorrow and disappointment in their eyes made him breathe more quickly by a few degrees.

"Does that mean you have no doubts anymore?"

Grayvis's face returned to its icy coldness, and he nodded slightly before looking at the several pursuers who were clearly on alert, shouting angrily,

    "Then kill them!"

A shrill scream overwhelmed the rumbling of the blood pool, and for a moment, the brilliant spell illuminated the dilapidated hall as brightly as midday!

    "Get down!"

Anticipating the situation, Sirius roared, lifting his wand in a sudden movement. The ground around them suddenly heaved upwards, forming four walls instantly to shield them from the first wave of attacks.

There was no need for all the vampires in the hall to join in an attack that was simply to surround and kill four wizards.

The first few dozen vampires surrounding them launched spells at Sirius and his allies, but even so, the walls that Sirius conjured were quickly torn apart by the first round of attacks. In a matter of moments, the four of them would be dead!

    "Mr. Black!"

Erebus threw Selene to the ground and shouted at Sirius.

    "I know!"

Sirius also roared in response, pushing Amelia's head lower with one hand and flipping away the spell light that had flown through a gap in the circle, he looked up and shouted at the virtual space,

    "Fox!"

    Bang!

A deafening bang was followed by a strong burst of white energy appearing under the ceiling decorated with various spells, causing fierce air vibration that caused glass fragments on the walls, windows, and ceiling of the hall, which was once the residence of the American Magical Congress, to fall like rain.

In the sound of a loud cry, a large patch of shadow appeared in mid-air without any warning, and dozens of brave wolves landed fiercely, under the stunned gazes of the vampires.

    Bang!

The fiercest war had begun, and every inch of the narrowing hall was filled with roars and shimmering spells!

Morganus's face turned terrifyingly fierce. He couldn't understand how the Utopians had arrived here, for it had been sealed with the anti-shadow illusions charm, and the connecting fireplace had been shattered in the first wave of attacks. But there was no time to count these things now. Centuries of effort was about to be realized tonight, and he would not allow it to be destroyed!

Morganus raised his hand and was about to join the battle with a blood-colored spell light, but --

    "Wait!"

Grayvis seemed to come to his senses from the shock, looking at the group of subordinates being surrounded in battle, his expression changing subtly.

"They can't win against so many vampires, stay with me to avoid being disturbed –"

Morganus paused, reluctant to look at the battlefield just a few steps away, but finally nodded.

But Grayvis's judgment was not entirely accurate.

Indeed, the Utopians were at a disadvantage in terms of numbers, but compared to the vampires who were hurling spells with no order, the Utopians who had been trained were obviously more sharp. Moreover, the limited space inside the hall also weakened the vampire's numerical advantage.

The Utopians, including Selena and Erebus, quickly conjured three huge transparent bubbles of magical barriers, each containing a dozen or so Utopians. Sirius and Amelia were at the center, while Erebus and Selena led their teams on either side to attack from the flanks, moving slowly but determinedly towards Grayvis.

Fox flapped its wings and hovered above the battlefield. It did not join the war, but instead stared at Grayvis, who was starting to cast spells on the blood pool again. In its ruby eyes, a faint blue light flickered.
