Chapter 925: Amos'ta's Arrogance

Genres:Sci-Fi and Supernatural Last update:25/03/21 14:02:27
Amelia, upon hearing this, the faint and vague sourness in her heart immediately disappeared. Her sudden sharp gaze aimed towards the door, and upon a glance, her delicate eyebrows contracted towards her brow center.

Walking into the cafe was a slender middle-aged man dressed in an eccentric black jacket, with a rebellious lip ring under his lip. Amelia believed that her judgment was correct. This man, whose demeanor seemed out of place with the coffee shop, was indeed an ordinary mortal without any magic.

She looked confused at Amostar, while Amostar simply sat down and waited quietly for the invitationer to arrive.

The café staff was also somewhat surprised by the guest's attire and taste, but when he heard the guest mention that there was a reservation and indicate a table number, he could only suppress his disdain and discontent, courteously pointing out the table where Amostar and Amelia were seated, but not personally guiding him there.

The hip-hop dressed ordinary mortal man did not pay attention to the strange glances from the guests in the café. He kept a sharp lookout around, and then gazed in the direction indicated by the waiter.

However, his line of sight was blocked by the huge sailboat model, and he could not see the situation behind it.

After some consideration, the ordinary mortal man tightened his lips and hurried over in quick steps.

He stopped his steps at a distance of 20 feet away from Amostar. After seeing that famous face, the ordinary mortal man's gaze suddenly converged, but he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Instead, when he noticed that there was another young lady sitting opposite to Amostar, his face immediately turned very ugly.

As the ordinary mortal man observed Amostar and Amelia, they were also observing him.

Amelia's gaze was laced with clear hostility. According to her wishes, the correct course of action for someone suspected of being involved in the case of a missing magical creature would be to immediately apprehend and send them back for interrogation by the parliament.

Meanwhile, Amostar looked at the completely unfamiliar muggle man who had stopped to observe himself. With an incredibly penetrating gaze, he looked into the man's eyes. After a moment, he seemed to notice something and his expression became one of understanding.

    "It's you."

    Amostar said calmly.

His words caused a momentary confusion between Amelia and the invited guest, while the latter, though not understanding the meaning, clearly became more alert.

"If I remember correctly, Mr. Brayne--"

The man said in a tense, hoarse voice.

"I only invited you alone, this young lady is not within my invitation scope, who is she?"

    "Amyria Deter."

Amostar leaned back into the sofa, interlacing his fingers on his lap, and spoke calmly.

"An Auror from the American Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Law Enforcement, sent to protect my safety."

Upon hearing that the Auror from the American Ministry of Magic, the man's forehead veins burst. He glanced at Amelia, whose face was as cold as ice and who was facing him, struggling to suppress the urge to flee. His breathing became rapid.

"This sounds like a joke, Mr. Brayne. You are one of the most powerful wizards of our time; you don't need anyone to protect your safety."

"You should know, the Department of Magical Law Enforcement has seized my wand."

"But you overcame a venomous leopard with your bare hands."

The muggle man fell silent for a moment, then said to Amostar,

"Bringing an Auror from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to see me like this seems to lack sincerity."

"Mr. Brayne, how can I assist you?"

The waiter passing by the muggle man looked at him with a hint of confusion, not understanding why the guest was standing there.

    "There is none."

The muggle man took a deep breath, ultimately not turning around to leave, but instead heading towards the table he had reserved.

Amelia was about to get up to make room for the suspicious muggle, but Amostar placed his hand in the air, indicating for Amelia to sit down.

"You don't intend to talk to me? Then why did you come here today?"

Seeing this, the muggle man's face turned ugly. After the waiter put down the meal and bowed to leave, he stood awkwardly by the table and asked in a low voice.

Amostar looked into the man's eyes and clearly felt a wizard's consciousness flickering behind them. His expression was calm, bordering on cold.

    "You just said about sincerity..."

Amostar's voice also carried a touch of disdain and coldness. He didn't even bother to look at the man, instead casually stirring the aromatic coffee in front of him with a silver spoon.

"You must have something that needs my help, but you used a Legilimens spell to control a muggle to meet with me like this. Is this your expression of sincerity?"

    Legilimens?!

The muggle in front of him was not the wizard who had written Amostar the invitation, but an innocent muggle controlled by one of the three unforbiddable curses, the Imperius Curse?

Amelia rose with determination, her hand instinctively reaching for her wand. However, just before she did so, she realized that she was on muggle territory. She couldn't reveal magic in front of these people!

"No matter who you are, you will definitely receive legal punishment!"

Amelia said coldly to the muggle man.

    "Lady Auror,"

The muggle man remained silent for a moment, speaking in a low voice, "

"I have already received my punishment."

Then, he looked at Amostar, ready to speak, but Amostar held up his palm to stop him from speaking.

"I will not discuss anything with someone who hides in plain sight. If you want to talk to me, let the muggle you control leave safely and come find me yourself."

The muggle man's face twisted, and he tried to struggle, but Amostar glanced at him with an air of authority. The thunderous pressure compressed his breath, making it hard to breathe. Even the overhead pendant light flickered a few times.

"I'll wait for you ten minutes."

The taste of the coffee he had just taken was quite thick, but compared to the clear and refreshing green tea, it still wasn't to Amostar's liking. He gently placed down his teacup and said indifferently,

"I will leave in ten minutes."

Saying this, Amostar nodded towards Amelia with his chin.

"You only have ten minutes to 'destroy' these delicious dishes, Amelia. Don't waste them."

Amelia keenly grasped Amostar's purpose with this remark. She looked coldly at the muggle man whose face had turned a sickly green, and started to tackle the cheese cake on the table without a word.

Upon seeing this, the muggle man's face changed yet again. He had sensed Amostar Brayne's determination. If he didn't come himself, it seemed that Amostar Brayne really wouldn't engage in any further communication with him.

    "However----"

The muggle man glanced at Amelia. If he were to appear before Amostar without a deal, and if Amostar Brayne backed out, he would have no choice but to be taken down directly here. He would be dead!

    "There are nine minutes left."

    Amostar said calmly.

If he stays in New York, he'll be in trouble sooner or later. It's better to take a chance and see if there's a chance of survival!

The muggle man ground his teeth in silence.

    "Please wait a moment."

After saying this, the muggle man hurriedly left, leaving the confused eyes of the café waiter.

"Don't you worry that he'll run away and not come back?"

After the muggle man left, Amelia no longer concealed her worry. She leaned forward, concernedly asking.

    "Not worried..."

Amostar said indifferently, but did not give his reason.

Ten minutes passed by quickly, yet felt excruciatingly long. Amelia kept biting her lip and kept glancing at the door. She wasn't sure why Amostar was so confident, but it was indeed a rare occasion for the Ministry of Magic's Department of Magical Law Enforcement to catch a level 5X criminal for poaching dangerous magical creatures.

She knew the motives behind the criminal gang's actions, but if such incredible creatures appeared in the muggle district, the consequences would be catastrophic!

Amelia kept glancing at the clock, watching as each second ticked by. The sense of urgency in her heart grew stronger with each passing minute.

The girl who had played the music before came out of the break room wearing a pale purple dress again and appeared in the lobby, bowing to some gentlemen who were clapping for her.

    Clank---

With only half a minute left of the ten-minute limit set by Amostar, another man wrapped in a grey overcoat rushed into the café. He ran in without heeding the questions from the waiter, his suspicious appearance even startling the girl who was playing music.

She looked at the man's pale face in horror, stumbled backwards a few steps, and accidentally collided with the corner of the piano. Suddenly, a look of pain appeared on her face.

    "Mr.!"

One waiter supported the girl back to her break room, and another waiter chased after him, calling out in anger.

    "I'm here."

Sato Ryuoh finally gasped for breath and stood in front of Amostar and Amelia.

Waving his hand at the chasing waiter, Amostar looked at the wizard who had met him twice before, and his eyebrows gently arched.

    "Then, please sit down--"
