"Spit it out -"
Amorastad's indifferent gaze fell on the Basilisk, and he spoke quietly.
Hiss—
The Basilisk hissed and flicked its tongue, sounding a bit pitiful.
Salazar Slytherin was the creator of this Basilisk, for it, Slytherin was akin to a father. It obeyed Slytherin's instructions and spent millennia in the hidden chamber. Over the long years, it was only occasionally released from its nature briefly when descendants of Slytherin returned to Hogwarts.
In Li's simple mind, since Slytherin had hidden the family emblem in its poison fangs, then this was the gift that its father gave it. However, this powerful wizard was forcing it to reveal its father's gift.
The blazing fire collar is slightly swaying up and down, but it gives the Basilisk a piercing cold feeling. It is very clear that the wizard in front of him is not afraid to destroy it.
"Amorast..."
As they have known each other for a long time, the rough and volatile Li shows a vulnerable appearance in front of Amorast. Newt can't help feeling sorry for it.
"That emblem is the only thing that Li misses about Salazar Slytherin. I can persuade it to spit it out, but could you please not take it away?"
"I'm sorry, Newt, but I can't give you that guarantee."
"Amorast doesn't want to deceive you, he speaks calmly,"
"I may not be able to prove it, but I have a great chance of possession that Salazar Slytherin left this emblem to me, so I must take it."
Amorast's words caused Newt to furrow his gray eyebrows.
He wasn't quite sure what Amorast was trying to say. A thousand years ago, Salazar Slytherin specifically left one of the family emblems to him, and even adopted such a hidden method. What does Amorast want to say, is he a direct descendant of Slytherin?
This is unlikely, as everyone knows that Amorast Brian is a Muggle-born, and the British magical academic circle recognizes the Slytherin descendants as the Gryffindor family.
Although he had only met Amorast twice and spent less than half a day with him, through hearsay and brief exchanges, Newt believed he had gained a certain understanding of this young man. Facing the calm, pale purple eyes, Newt knew he couldn't persuade Amorast to change his mind.
Newt abandoned the attempt to persuade him, sighed heavily, and remained silent. Amorast then focused his gaze once again on the Basilisk.
"Spit out the emblem."
Amorast said again,
"Don't let me repeat it for the third time."
What can the weak Li do?
It has only two choices: either to spit out the emblem left by its father, or to be burned to ashes by the gray-haired wizard and then forced to surrender the emblem.
So, Li's huge body began to shake, and his belly slowly moved to the ground as he slowly pushed the emblem that he had swallowed into the snake's mouth.
Spit--
A medal wrapped in pale green gastric juices, still shimmering with metallic luster, was spat out of the Basilisk's mouth. Amorast blinked and caused the medal to hover in front of himself.
Amorast flicked his fingers, and with a gust of wind, the palm-sized, one-inch thick metal plate became spotless.
As Newt said earlier.
The main part of the emblem is a piece of black silver.
In today's magical world, this extremely precious magical metal is rarely used entirely to create any object. Only those exquisite and expensive alchemical devices would use black silver to engrave magical passages within their core components.
The thick emblem on the front and back of the emblem has the Slytherin family crest etched in gold, similar to a locket, with the vivid 'S' at the center adorned with pure green gemstones. The side contours of the emblem are also finely etched.
Watching the slowly spinning Slytherin family emblem before him, Amorast's eyes flickered with contemplation.
Unlike a pendant, the emblem on the front and back of the emblem has obvious magical traces, but it is unclear what specific magic it is attached to. However, there is one thing that can be confirmed: this Slytherin emblem is not like swords, crowns, gold cups, and pendants, as well as the resurrection stone ring. There are traces of them in some documents.
Slytherin left it must have been for some profound reason, which is beyond doubt.
Amorast hesitated for a moment, glancing at the Basilisk, which was subtly showing signs of low spirits. He did not loosen the fire collar around its neck; instead, he pulled it even tighter. Before Newt's tense shout could escape, Amorast extended his hand.
Click--
In Amorast's slightly tense gaze, the cold and heavy emblem fell into his hand.
Without any dazzling light or shimmering shadows, everything in the dungeon remained as usual, only Newt's serious warning sound.
Gazing at the emblem, Amorast's eyebrows furrowed subtly.
Today, among the four great founders of Hogwarts, he has personally witnessed Granifford, RaveNCraw and Hedgepaw. He even had a unilateral interaction with Granifford across time. Only Salazar Slytherin has Amorast not met yet.
He has always had a hidden expectation, after all, he graduated from Salazar Slytherin's school. But whether it is because this great founder looks down upon himself for being a Muggle-born, Slytherin has never appeared in front of him.
His most recent contact with this unique founder was the Basilisk's hidden chamber, where a sculpture of Slytherin himself stood in front of the door that the Gryffindors called the secret door.
Amorast had hoped that this emblem would be the opportunity for him to meet Slytherin, but it was not as he had imagined.
The heavy family emblem lying in Amorast's palm seemed like a priceless piece of art, glowing with light and color but showing no movement.
"What do you think it is?"
Rubbing his fingers back and forth over the texture of the emblem, Amorast looked at it upside down for several minutes without finding any clues. He unconsciously asked Newt.
Newt realized that Amorast had tightened the fire collar simply to prevent the Basilisk from disrupting his study of the Slytherin family emblem. He let out a soft sigh, stood quietly beside Amorast, and accompanied him in watching Slytherin's legacy.
He turned his head to one side when he heard Amorast's question. When he first received the emblem, he had studied it for a while, but there had been no significant progress.
"I'm sorry, Amorast, I'm not a historian or a heraldry expert. I've indeed searched through some of the records about Salazar Slytherin, but I haven't been able to find any records of this emblem appearing in the past thousand years. I can only tell that it's probably the work of a pixie."
"Perhaps from a pixie --"
Amorast murmured the words.
This was not hard to determine, as pixie crafts had a very unique style, and the fine, intricate patterns on the edge of this emblem were evidence that it had been made by a pixie. This was not something new, as all the items left by the four founders were made by pixies. Some of them have been later imbued with magical powers by wizards.
Amorast held the heavy emblem with its side facing up and gazed at the pattern on the edge.
During his investigation into Hermione's attack, Amorast learned from an elf named Engel at the Gringotts World Bank in Paris that these patterns were not just decorative, but actually rare elfish scripts.
Flipping the emblem back and forth, examining the patterns, Amorast's eyes narrowed slightly.
Gringotts. Elf Slytherin Key?
Gradually, a vague guess began to emerge in Amorast's mind.
"I need to take this emblem with me --"
After taking a deep breath, Amorast looked towards Newt.
"I roughly know what its function is, but I need to double-check."
Newt nodded, hesitated for a moment, and looked at the sprawled-out Li.
"If one day this Slytherin family emblem no longer works for you, could you give it back to Li, Amorast?"
