Chapter 656: Recognizing Names

Genres:Sci-Fi and Supernatural Last update:25/03/21 12:44:07
In recent years, among the unsolved mysteries at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the rumor of cursed professors teaching the Defense Against the Dark Arts course has always been quite popular. Although Dumbledore always keeps his mouth shut in public, people believe that there is indeed something significant about this course.

What is quite remarkable is that no matter who the professor of this course is, how they leave the post in an unceremonious manner, they can always hold on to their position until the end of the school year. Of course, there are external factors involved in Lupin's final departure and it cannot be used as a standard for evaluation.

outsiders are quite interested in this, and they believe that there is a time limit in the curse related to the professor of this course, which will be released after a year. However, Amoska, who has personally experienced such a curse, has his own views.

Amoska believes that this kind of curse is more like a chronic toxin. After you are essentially hired, this toxin will exist in your body, it will not immediately erupt, but it will change your fate like Polyjuice Potion in silence. The toxin accumulates slowly, and all the things that are unfavorable to you also happen silently in places where you cannot see them until a certain degree is reached and then it will be set off.

From the perspective of this curse, it can be known that Voldemort indeed deserves the title of a master of black magic. At least during Amoska's years in the European wizarding world, he has never seen a curse with effects that are nearly causal.

To be honest, unless you have the ability like Amoska's, it would be very difficult to avoid the misfortunes caused by the curse. However, it is not impossible to control the damage caused by the curse to some extent - just pay attention to controlling the time you spend as a professor of this course is one way.

Like Sirius Black, who only intended to help Dumbledore for a couple of months, although he couldn't escape the karmic consequences, at least he could keep the harm within an acceptable range.

Therefore, this is why Amoska doesn't necessarily oppose Sirius Black accepting Dumbledore's employment.

If Dumbledore has the ability to find three or four 'big scapegoats' a year, the reputation of this course would not be so bad.

In the end, with Professor Brieden's explanation and Sirius's assurance, Harry stopped worrying so much about his godfather suddenly dying one day.

In the following two days, there were only two topics that were the most popular among the people at Hogwarts: the first was whether the new professor teaching the Defense Against the Dark Arts, Sirius Black, had a truly good teaching level. As there was no class for Gryffindor's third-year students these days, Harry had to ask around about his performance in class. He was afraid to hear any negative comments about him, but according to Fred and George, Black's teaching level was quite interesting. At least, it wasn't worse than Lupin Professor.

The other topic was that there seemed to be a conflict within Slytherin. This conflict emerged in the Slytherin common room after Monday's dinner, and it was said to be quite intense, even reaching the point where the Head of Slytherin College had to intervene personally to bring it to a halt.

However, because the Slytherins are very tight-lipped about their own traditions, the other three houses have not been able to gather any detailed information.

However, after that conflict, Malfoy and his two little lackeys became arrogant again on campus, while Theodore Nott and Breathy Nashini, who were in the same year as Malfoy, appeared gloomy on campus next time they showed up. The bruises on their faces told everyone they were the losers of that conflict.

    Wednesday

Today's weather is as bright and cheerful as Harry's mood in recent days. When the golden sunlight shines through the ornate window grilles, Harry jumps out of his four-poster bed, quickly puts on his uniform in a few movements, and walks to Ron's bedside, giving a hard pat on the bedpost.

"Get up, Ron, we can't miss today's class!"

    "Mm—"

Ron blurredly sat up, yawning and rubbing his bleary eyes. He looked like a gust of wind rushing into the bathroom to tidy up. Harry blinked confusedly, but then he realized the reason for Harry's excitement.

Neville, Seamus, and Dean climbed out of bed one by one.

    "What's going on?"

    "Seamus is curious,"

"Seamus is wondering why Harry has never been so excited about going to class before?"

"Sirius Black's class," Ron shrugged, "He's been looking forward to--"

Not only Black, but there were others eagerly looking forward to the class. At least, when Hermione was having breakfast in the Great Hall, she heard her two roommates Lavender and Parvati pointing at Professor Black and giggling over him at the faculty table.

It's undeniable that Sirius is one of the more handsome professors. His facial features are striking, and perhaps due to his suffering, he always carries a subtle melancholy in his eyes when he is not speaking. This melancholic aura is very captivating to the underage witch girls who are full of dreams of love.

In terms of teaching quality, Sirius may not be as good as Professor Brieden, who has a strong personal style. But at least in appearance, he is on par with Amoska among the students.

As they entered the classroom for Defense Against the Dark Arts, Sirius was leaning against the podium in his light blue wizard's robes, ready for class to start.

This is a class that Slytherin also attends, and in that house, Sirius's popularity is obviously not as great as it is in Gryffindor. It was only after the students of Gryffindor had gathered that the Slytherins, looking rather indifferent, slowly walked into the classroom. Malfoy only appeared at the classroom door with Crabbe and Goyle seconds before the bell rang.

Harry immediately looked at Malfoy with anger in his eyes, knowing that he had not come late because of something that held him back, but rather to give Sirius a warning.

As for the dislike of Slytherin, Sirius is no less than Harry and his friends, but due to Amoska's face, he doesn't want to go as far as Snape.

    "Now we begin class--"

After Sirius checked the attendance list, he smiled and walked back to the podium.

"From Professor Lupin, I have learned about the teaching situation of this course. I have to say that your course progress has made me very satisfied."

Malfoy casually tilted his head back, his eyes slanting to look at Professor Black, as he emitted a disdainful and clear sniff of contempt that could be heard by the entire class.

"If you dare to cause trouble, Malfoy,"

Harry turned around with a grim face and glared at him fiercely, "I'll make sure that Nashini and Nott's traces of color appear on your face--"

    "I bet you would, Potter--"

Malfoy continued to sneer, "You must be very touched by that, having a father with so much experience in prison, right?"

Before Harry could stand up and draw his wand, Sirius, who had appeared by his side for some unknown reason, had already grabbed his shoulder. He glared coldly at Malfoy.

"Slytherin, minus twenty points - do I need to explain the reason for the deduction, Malfoy?"

To directly confront a professor is not something that a third-year student can do. Even if Malfoy dislikes Sirius Black in his heart, he doesn't have the courage to argue with him under the cold gaze of Professor Black.

"That's the picture I've always dreamed of!"

Under Hermione's disapproving gaze, Ron stifled a laugh with his hand.

"The fun has only just started, I really hope Malfoy can show more backbone!"

Sirius returned to the podium. He looked around the class, his face broke into a smile again.

"According to the course progress, we should delve deeper into the subject of werewolves, but, thanks to Professor Brieden, we have a rare opportunity to learn how to deal with an attack from another kind of creature."
