Chapter 367: Confrontational Rivalry

Genres:Sci-Fi and Supernatural Last update:25/03/21 11:15:56
Yaya crouches at the back of the closed door, desperately scratching the door with both front paws. His whimpering is filled with sadness, as if he has understood that the owner of the house has gone far away, and whether he can return is still unknown.

    "Professor Brenn!"

Harry, gasping for breath, pulled off his invisibility cloak. He took deep breaths, trying to speak several times, but unsure of how to begin.

"Professor, is the Ministry of Magic really going to send Hagrid to Azkaban? But, Hagrid is innocent... I mean, what evidence do they have to prove that Hagrid is the Heir of Slytherin?"

Hermione looked at Professor Brenn, who was examining Harry's Invisibility Cloak, her voice laced with tears.

"Sometimes the world of adults can be very complicated, Miss Granger, dealing with people can also be very complicated--"

Amostha walked over to the bench and sat down, tiredly rubbing his temples as he said,

"That's why, after graduation, I chose to withdraw from society, cut off all contact with my classmates, and live a relatively simple life."

Amostha could see the fear in the hearts of the three little ones. Maybe even they themselves did not realize it, after Dumbledore was expelled from Hogwarts, their expressions were as confused as they could be.

Perhaps, Dumbledore rarely interacted with them on a daily basis. However, the span of over half a century had made 'Hogwarts' and 'Dumbledore' almost synonymous, binding together like two inseparable nouns. The collapse of Hogwarts without its headmaster could generate an overwhelming sense of despair among everyone in the school.

But for Ammosta himself, this was a very good opportunity.

"So, you three may owe me an explanation--"

Amostha's calm and steady tone made Harry, Hermione, and the heartbroken Ron suddenly feel that the air wasn't so thick anymore. The three of them exchanged glances, and finally, Harry took a deep breath and quickly told them the whole story of the mysterious diary completely.

"Once we learned about Ginny's incident, Hermione immediately went to the library. Following your hints and the information we had previously gathered, we discovered that the monster in the Chamber of Secrets is likely a snake monster... Then, we arrived at Hagrid's place ahead of everyone else to confirm the truth about the series of events that happened fifty years ago--"

"Tom Riddle's diary can bring you back in time to experience the scenes as they were recorded..."

Amostha closed his eyes and thought deeply, after reading his own lost memories, he remembered the detailed memories of destroying Voldemort's Horcrux when he was in the fifth grade. He almost confirmed that the notebook was another new Horcrux.

    "Incredible... foolishness..."

Amostha whispered the words only he could hear.

No matter how many times it splits the intact soul as anchor points, just in order to make the doomed decaying body stay in the sea of human life, how ridiculous this is. Ammosta has experienced the wheel of life, he is probably the only person in the world who has 'died' and survived again. In his eyes, death is like a dream, Voldemort's persistent pursuit of 'life' makes him difficult to understand.

However, there were still some aspects of the diary that had been in Harry's hands that Ammosta found incredibly astonishing.

Amostaa has seen and even destroyed Horcruxes, but the fact that this diary, which had briefly stayed in Harry's hands, has the ability to deceive and mislead a person with words is truly surprising. Why would it have such high "activity"?

"I think there's something you might not know--"

Amostaa opened his eyes and looked at the three of them, who were uneasily fidgeting, and said in a calm tone,

"Tom Riddle..., was the name that Voldemort used when he attended Hogwarts School, or perhaps, this is Voldemort's actual name."

    Clank!

Amostaa's softly spoken news was like a bolt of lightning striking the three before him. Ron stumbled and collided with the kettle on the stove, Hermione let out a piercing scream, and Harry turned as pale as death.

    "So it seems!"

Harry didn't have time to think about where Professor Brenn had gotten that information. He swallowed the queasy and dizziness he felt from his past encounters with Voldemort's dark magic creations and asked,

"It's Voldemort... it's always been him, he opened the Chamber of Secrets fifty years ago, and he framed Hagrid!"

Except for Harry, Professor Brenn is the only wizard that Ron has seen who can say the word "Voldemort" in such a calm and peaceful tone. If it were any other normal time, he would have been extremely surprised by it. But now, all he feels is despair.

Before knowing this news, he had hoped in his heart that as long as they found the Chamber of Secrets in time, Ginny might still be saved. But now, even Ron, who is always optimistic, dare not imagine that his sister is still safe!

    "Professor Brenn!"

Hermione's forehead was sweating profusely, indicating that she was using her smart little brain to think at full speed.

"If we explain all this to the Ministry of Magic, would that mean Hagrid and Headmaster Dumbledore--"

"If the notebook is still in your possession intact, the Ministry of Magic might accept our explanation, Miss Granger,"

Amostaa understands Hermione's plan, but his response is very disappointing.

"But now, we have no evidence to prove the existence of this diary and its incredible abilities. The Ministry of Magic will not easily believe the story of three young wizards."

Professor Brenn's words made Harry feel extremely guilty. After all, Ron had warned him about the danger of the mysterious diary, and Hermione had also told him to hand over the diary. But he had stubbornly kept the diary with him, and this almost directly led to Ron's sister's misfortune.

Amostaa did not speak, and he was also deep in thought.

From Harry's description, Ammosta deduced that the diary was merely a vessel for Voldemort's thoughts, lacking any action capabilities of its own. In other words, all the attacks in the first term were carried out by the diary through a student, which could be Ginny Weasley.

How exactly did Ginny Weasley obtain this Horcrux of Voldemort?

Could it be that Ginny Weasley obtained this Horcrux of Voldemort in the same way as when she found the remnants of Voldemort hidden in the castle during her own time?

Another question is whether Ginny Weasley is still alive now?

In Ammostaa's opinion, the high-activity Horcrux of Voldemort is unlikely to have directly killed Ginny Weasley, as such an action would be too 'wasteful'.

Amostaa understands Horcruxes, and the purpose of Horcruxes is twofold: firstly, when the 'host body' is critically injured, it serves as an anchor point to forcefully attach the shattered soul to the mortal world, thus avoiding the death of the creator of the Horcrux.

The second purpose is that Horcruxes have the ability to revive the host, and the means to achieve this effect are by absorbing the life force of those who come into contact with them, something that Ammosta has experienced deeply.

Absorbing life force is not something that can be done overnight. From the faint impression of Ginny Weasley that Ammostaa has over these days, it seems that the girl's life has not yet reached the stage of being a wisp of wind. That means it would not be an easy task for Voldemort's Horcrux to completely absorb Ginny's life force in just a few hours.

But if the time extends until tomorrow when the sun rises, the fate of Ginny really cannot be predicted.
