Bang!
The roar, which came without warning, made Harry slip and fall to the ground. However, he paid no attention to his sore bottom. His eyes were wide open, staring at the dark that had just rolled over. Without a doubt, the shriek was from Malfoy and it sounded not far away!
Malfoy is in danger; there are truly dangerous dark creatures in this maze!
Harry's underclothes were soaked in sweat within just a few seconds. He climbed to his feet, shivering, and without a moment's hesitation, his instincts drove him to run back the way he had come.
But just after two steps, Harry stopped again. A look of confusion appeared on his pale, colorless face.
There are dark creatures within the labyrinth; this proves that Professor Brenn is not deceiving them. Then, what about the 'casualties' mentioned in that magical contract...
In this school, Malfoy is the smallest wizard that Harry most hated. At the same time, Harry also clearly knew that he himself was probably the most hated person of Malfoy. They are born rivals. If given the chance, both of them would unhesitatingly expel each other from Hogwarts, which is undoubtedly.
But that doesn't mean Harry wants Malfoy to die!
Thinking of the word 'death', Harry shivered again and unconsciously, a picture appeared in front of him. A cold, lifeless body lay in the black corridor, with glazed eyes staring at the ceiling, the robe soaked in blood, a furry monster with fierce claws and fangs crouched next to Malfoy's body, tearing open his stomach and delightfully eating his bloody flesh!
"Don't interfere, Harry, Malfoy won't be grateful to you. Besides, Snape is out there watching you!"
Harry's lips turned pale, and he whispered to himself, trying to convince his conscience. However, no matter how hard he tried, the image that just appeared in his mind was like a nail driven into his forehead - it wouldn't go away!
Damn, Malfoy, this is the only chance of this lifetime!
After a difficult struggle, eventually, kindness triumphed over fear and his dislike for Malfoy. Harry turned around once more and roared towards the direction of the screams.
"Where are you, Malfoy? If you can still breathe, please scream again!"
Harry listened intently, hearing no response to his question. However, a series of hurried footsteps soon appeared on the other end of the corridor, quickly approaching this way!
Harry stumbled backwards, his heart pounding rapidly inside his chest, as if it were about to burst out of his throat with a single breath!
"Who's there!"
Harry shouted out the question, but soon after, his question was answered. Malfoy crawled out of the darkness, rolling and stumbling!
Harry swore he had never seen Malfoy looking more disheveled. The loathsome, sarcastic expression on his face was gone, replaced by snot and tears. Malfoy's hair and forehead were stained with blood, the color just like the patch of blood he had seen on the wall before entering the labyrinth.
His robe had been torn apart by something, leaving only half of it draped over his shoulders. When he saw Harry appearing in front of him, Malfoy's eyes suddenly shone with unprecedented joy!
It's truly amazing that Malfoy will ever be happy to see him.
While Harry thought this, he clearly also knew that it was not the time to let such a trivial thought occupy his mind.
"What did you encounter!"
From twenty feet away, Harry began to ask questions, but Malfoy didn't respond. He desperately tried to control his shivering body, running towards Harry's direction as fast as he could. Until he threw himself in front of Harry and tightly gripped his arm,
"There are corpses, Potter. I... phew, I saw the dead!"
Malfoy's face couldn't be described as anything other than pale. While speaking, his eyes were unfocused, as if fear had overwhelmed his mental defense.
"Corpses are overhead... I was walking in the labyrinth just now, wondering whether to turn back. A drop of blood fell from the ceiling... a pair of white eyes... it was chasing me!"
Malfoy's words were disjointed, and Harry was certain that he had indeed experienced something unimaginably terrifying. He could feel that Malfoy was almost entrusting all his weight to him; without his support, he would have probably collapsed to the ground!
"Don't say nonsense, Malfoy!"
Harry spoke sternly, but he noticed that his voice was trembling.
"Professor Brenn said... he said there are dark creatures here, but he didn't say that there were any corpses hidden in the labyrinth, did he? And corpses don't climb up to chase you, do they!"
"You don't know him, Potter!"
As if it were a final burst of energy, Malfoy's wide-open eyes stared at Harry with confusion, his flushed cheeks exclaiming loudly.
"You don't understand Amos Dumbledore, Potter. He is a dark wizard, and I've seen him in his cruel and ruthless manner in private!"
Just then, it seemed that Malfoy had used up all his reason, and he began to become somewhat confused again. He directly threw off Harry's support, stumbling forward in the direction Harry had come from, muttering mindlessly "flee" and "leave" or similar phrases.
Harry's breathing became rapid again, his mind overwhelmed by fear once more. He stood there, watching Malfoy disappear from his sight, and found himself at a loss as to what to do next.
Scratch---
At this moment, an unusual dragging sound came from the direction where Malfoy had come, as if someone was dragging something forward with their feet not lifting.
Gurgle---
Harry swallowed hard, his glowing wand trembling as it pointed towards the direction of the sound. He felt every cell in his body shivering!
Should he stay here and face the dark creature, or turn around and leave now?
"Professor Dumbledore probably wouldn't let us deal with creatures that are beyond our ability as young wizards, would he? And since we've already come here..."
Harry's dry lips were tightly pressed together, and he struggled to think with what little rationality remained. He was trying to convince himself not to be a coward and forcing himself to widen his eyes, staring in the direction where the strange noise was coming from. At least, he had to see what was hidden in the labyrinth. He couldn't just believe Malfoy's story!
Waiting was the most torturous thing, and every second felt like it was being delayed by magic. Harry slowly moved to the wall, his back pressed against it, silently waiting for the final moment when fear would descend upon him...
Even though Harry had been telling himself that he might encounter unprecedented fear since walking into this classroom, and even something scarier than Hagrid's giant dog, Rubeus Lupin, or even the scarred, unconventional Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, he had never expected to face such terror. When that creature emerged from the darkness, Harry felt as if his entire respiratory system was being plunged into icy water. Every breath he took was like that cold. At the same time, the barrier he had set up in his mind collapsed completely!
Indeed, it was a corpse. Malfoy had not lied!
It was a female corpse, dressed in tattered and old clothes, with sparse, long hair growing on a decayed scalp, and her dim eyes and pale, withered skin.
Harry confirmed it at first sight. He had never seen a person with a knife stuck in their heart who was still moving before!
Clack-Clack---
A strange sound came from Harry's mouth, the sound of his upper and lower teeth clacking together. For some reason, Harry began to have a bit of respect for Malfoy because, after encountering such a thing, Malfoy still had the strength to run away. That was indeed quite remarkable!
Run! That was the only thought left in Harry's head.
Why was a corpse that looked like it had been dead for a long time still moving? Where did Professor Dumbledore obtain such an evil creature, and how should one defeat a creature that is sleeping in the embrace of death? All these questions could wait. The only thing Harry needed to consider urgently now was to escape.
The wind whooshing past his ears was proof of Harry's speed, but even so, he felt it was too slow. Never had Harry missed his broomstick as much as he did at that moment.
"There's another one over there, Potter!"
Just as Harry burst out of a small room that looked like a tomb, Malfoy suddenly emerged from a corner, and the disoriented Malfoy's shout from his mouth plunged Harry into complete panic!
