Chapter 56: Armodstat's Temper

Genres:Sci-Fi and Supernatural Last update:25/03/21 13:43:48
Harry would rather never discover the correct way to read the notebook he found in his backpack himself, so that he wouldn't have to face the troublesome problems that lay ahead of him.

"Riddle might have found the wrong person,"

Hermione's expression often resembles Professor McGonagall's strikingly, or one might say, they are both of the same type of Gryffindor. For instance, right now, Hermione's lips pressed together resemble Professor McGonagall's expression after discovering that Seamus has caused another explosion in Potions class or that Neville has hurt himself again.

"Maybe, the evil one is the other beast..."

"Hermione, do you think this place can hold a few beasts?" Ron asked tiredly.

Harry completely understood Hermione's desire to defend Hagrid, but it seemed even she might not believe the flimsy excuses she came up with.

"I should have realized that this would be related to Hagrid..." Harry stared at the crackling fireplace, looking gloomy.

"Do you remember, Ron, during the Christmas holiday when Hagrid found out that Professor Breen was returning to school as the investigator of the Chamber of Secrets? I thought something was off back then... but I thought Hagrid just knew some secrets about the chamber."

After a long silence, Hermione still raised the most difficult question.

Do you think we could ask Hagrid about these things?"

"That would surely be a delightful visit," Ron said with a sardonic smile.

"How should we ask, Hermione? Should we tell Hagrid, 'Hello, Hagrid, did you let out any savage, furry creatures in the castle last semester?'"

There was another oppressive silence, but this time it was broken by Harry.

"At lunchtime today, Professor Breen mentioned that he had paid a visit to Hagrid... but as far as I know, they're not exactly on good terms."

"But the fact is, Professor Breen did not arrest Hagrid, is that right?"

    Hermione frowned and analyzed.

"Perhaps this could prove that Hagrid is innocent... and, Harry, don't forget, it was Headmaster Dumbledore who kept Hagrid at Hogwarts. If Hagrid really---"

"Dumbledore is a great and merciful person, Hermione, we all know that!"

Hermione's feeble resistance in the face of harsh reality made Ron uncomfortable, and he emphasized, "

No one believes that fifty years ago, Hagrid deliberately murdered the unfortunate girl, but the problem is, he sometimes just doesn't understand the danger of those furry monsters!

The discussion about this issue ultimately did not reach a clear conclusion.

Hermione thought that since Professor Breen probably knew that Hagrid was related to the Chamber of Secrets fifty years ago, it might be a good idea to give the notebook to him. This way, he could face off with Riddle in the notebook.

But this proposal was undoubtedly met with Harry's strong opposition, and the reasons he gave were ones that Hermione could not argue against.

"I would never give the notebook to Professor Breen, Hermione,"

"Think about it, Hermione, if Professor Breen doesn't even know about this, then it's like we're handing Hagrid over to that wizard prison that Malfoy is drooling over. Do you want me to spend the rest of my life regretting this?" Harry said with an annoying expression.

    .........

Due to the incomplete resolution of the letter from last week, at a little after one on Sunday afternoon, when Amoshta prematurely opened Professor Loathart's office, which had been sealed for a week, a surge of white paper nearly buried him entirely. There was not a single spot in the entire office where one could stand uncontaminated.

"We have to find another place, everyone!"

Amoshta climbed out of the letter sea, his face expressionless, watching Hermione suddenly become as formal as the first time he met her, and behind her, Harry and Ron's eyes clearly holding secrets.

In the end, the resigned Amoshta had no choice but to offer his own office.

Hermione and Harry had both been to Professor Breen's office, but this was the first time Ron had stepped into the office of the Investigator. He curiously examined everything here, of course, the focus was on the surveillance wall covered with curtains.

    "This is the..."

Ron stared at the surveillance wall with a mixture of awe and reverence, whispering to Harry about it. Before Harry could answer, Hermione silenced him with a severe look.

Amoshta smiled at the scene and waved his wand, directly pulling back the curtain and showing them three the magical wall in a straightforward manner, and he teased, "

"You might still need to keep things under wraps with others, but you three, it seems you've already got me all figured out, right!"

Harry, Ron, and Hermione all blushed and smiled, and under Professor Breen's permission, they had a good look at the 'wall of Hogwarts'. Of course, Harry and Ron just looked for fun, while Hermione slightly noticed something strange.

"I probably can't cast such profound transformation spell for the rest of my life..."

At the end of the visit, Hermione said with a wistful look.

"Don't underestimate yourself, Miss Granger. You have a high talent for magic. Just keep up your humble learning attitude, and one day, it won't be able to puzzle you!"

To avoid any interference with the upcoming work, Amoshta turned off the surveillance wall again, and when he turned around, he found that even Miss Granger's ears were red with embarrassment.

Even with twice as many people, writing back to fans for Professor Loathart was still a tedious and painful task. Amoshta continued to procrastinate, and eventually, he was even unwilling to write even two words by hand. Instead, he waved his wand to make sheets of paper float over and have the quill write on them autonomously. He himself was happily engrossed in studying that manuscript.

This scene made Harry and Ron jealous to the teeth, but they didn't have the courage to imitate it.

Time gradually passed, and the sun set in the west.

By the time dinner was served, Amoshta used the excuse of going down to get their dinner to take a little walk. When he came back, a significant number of the remaining letters had mysteriously disappeared. In the office, Hermione was angry glancing at Harry and Ron. Amoshta smiled, understanding what had happened.

"Take a break for a while, Mr. and Mrs. ladies, there's no need to rush."

Professor Breen was very approachable during casual conversations, and it was almost impossible to remember that he was a professor and investigator. He seemed more like an older student of Hogwarts. This gave Harry the courage to voice his doubts.

"Professor Breen, did you visit Hagrid yesterday morning?"

Harry pretended to be indifferent, trying to make his question seem like a casual mention in a casual chat, but the clenched fists and sudden strange silence from Hermione and Ron, both of whom had been puzzled, all suggested that this was a question prepared for a long time.
