Chapter 41: Slightly Guilty

Genres:Sci-Fi and Supernatural Last update:25/03/21 13:27:57
At ten thirty in the morning on weekends, Amosta stood in front of Professor Lohart's office door.

To be honest, he had little animosity towards this professor who had a mediocre reputation. From their brief contact, it seemed that the professor's attitude towards him was quite friendly. Of course, it must be said that his speaking style was a bit exaggerated.

In fact, Amosta felt a bit guilty about Lohart, and the reasons for this were twofold.

The first reason is quite apparent; he was doing quite well as a professor of Black Magic Defense, and without a word, he took half of the other person's job. To put it seriously, it's like stealing someone's livelihood, which is very unethical.

The second reason is a bit complicated.

A few days ago, Amosta somehow managed to transfer the Curse of the Dark Lord from the position to a Voodoo doll. The advantage of this is that Amosta himself no longer needs to bear the risk of the curse, and as a result, Professor Lohart's risk is significantly reduced.

At first glance, it seems to be a win-win situation, but in fact, it is not.

For example, the Curse of the Dark Lord is like a raging river, and Amosta's way of resisting the curse is to build a dam in the riverbed, blocking the fast-flowing water. As long as the dam is strong, he standing behind it is safe. But if one day the dam collapses or he deliberately removes it, then the water stored at a higher level will be much more fierce than before.

Of course, if Professor Lohart quits before Amosta and runs away, then all the consequences will have to be borne by himself.

    "Come in!"

The voice behind the door is still as cheerful, and there are no signs of anything abnormal.

"I hope he won't be too angry--"

Before pushing open the door, Amosta murmured to himself softly.

Professor Lohart's office decoration style was as exaggerated as he was. There were many of his own portraits on the walls of the room. Even on a sunny morning, there were many bright candles lit in the room, and the light from those candles was reflected by the white teeth in the photos on the walls and shone into Amosta's eyes, almost blinding him.

Another point worth mentioning is that, among the staff of Hogwarts, perhaps only Professor Lohart receives as much correspondence as Headmaster Dumbledore. The stack of letters waiting for his response on his desk is probably five feet tall.

"Oh, Mrs. Weasley, I didn't expect to see you here as well!"

Professor Lohart's office was not just him, there was a little witch on the other side of the office who quickly got up from her chair upon seeing him enter. She hid a golden card in her pocket, blushing furiously.

    "Good morning, Mr. Brawn!"

Amosta stood at the door, not moving. He raised his eyebrows and smiled.

"So, Madame Pomfrey has already sorted out your black... "

Amosta saw the little witch lower her head and blink furiously, her body tense and almost curling into a ball. Instantly, he understood.

"Oh... well, congratulations on your recovery, Miss Granger... then,"

Amosta looked at Lohart with a questioning expression, "I'm sorry to interrupt your conversation, Professor Lohart. If you are inconvenient now..."

"Oh, there's no need to leave. I can't turn away one fan for another, Amosta! Mrs. Granger is here to thank me; we're done talking!"

Amosta saw the curious glint in Hermione's eyes as she looked at him, realizing that she must have misunderstood something. However, he was too lazy to explain this trivial misunderstanding, and he walked in with a smile on his face.

Although she was curious about why Mr. Brawn was visiting Professor Lohart, Hermione knew that they would not allow her to stay here and eavesdrop openly. So, she could only reluctantly leave. Before leaving, there was a small incident because of her mind full of thoughts, Hermione accidentally knocked over the pile of letters waiting for a reply on Professor Lohart's desk.

    "I'm sorry, Professor, I'll help you... "

Amosta couldn't help but chuckle as he watched Hermione fumble with her wand, "How can you always be so clumsy whenever I see you, Mrs. Granger?"

"You don't have to worry about it, Miss Granger. Let me handle it for you!"

As he watched Hermione panting away and leaving, Amosta smiled and walked over. He looked at the scattered letters on the ground and Professor Lohart's desk, suddenly, the words on an old parchment that was pressed under the letters caught his attention. However, he quickly returned to normal. He snapped his fingers crisply, and hundreds of letters wrapped in different envelopes automatically rose up and were neatly placed back in their original positions.

"From my perspective, you must be the most popular teacher in this school right now, Professor Lohart."

Professor Lohart, whose expression had stiffened at Amosta's beautiful silent and wandless spell, immediately brightened into a smile.

"In fact, it's even more than that. Once you fully integrate into the professor team, you'll find that among the professors, Gilderoy Lohart is also the most highlighted one. After all,"

Lohart playfully blinked at Amosta and took a deep breath,

"How many people can win the Most Charming Smile Award from 'The Witch Weekly' five consecutive times, and at the same time be recipients of the Order of Merlin's Third Degree and honorary members of the Anti-Black Magic Alliance? Of course, Amora. You must be as familiar with my past as Miss Granger, right?"

Professor Lohart had completely failed to notice Amosta's increasingly uncomfortable expression. He was completely immersed in his own world.

"Oh, hehe, Amos, Amos, I must admit that you have once again surprised me. It's not enough that you went to great lengths to follow in my footsteps and enter Hogwarts; now, you've even asked Dumbledore to become my assistant to get close to me. Oh, must say, Amos, among my most ardent followers, you stand out rather prominently!"

Amosta's lips were tightly pressed together, and his expression was tense. He could somewhat understand why the popular celebrity author became a hated figure at Hogwarts!

However, this also helped Amosta find a way to communicate with him.

"Cough cough, indeed so, Professor Lohart, I am indeed a fan of yours..."

    "Ha ha!"

Lohart laughed loudly and dramatically, his face showing a look of of course.

"...That's right! I applied to become the assistant professor of Black Magic Defense to get closer to you. I hope to improve myself alongside the young wizards in your class."

"But, Professor McGonagall seems to think... oh, what she means is that you have to deal with so many fan letters every day, as well as teach hundreds of young wizards against evil black magic. It's too much work for you. She hopes I can share some of your pressure and teach the senior students alone. To be honest, this is not my original intention..."

"No need to explain, Amos, I completely understand your meaning--"

Lohart's confidence seemed to glow on his face as he interrupted Amosta's explanation.

"Hope to teach with me, right? No problem, Amos! Gilderoy Lohart will never refuse the request of any of his most fanatic followers!"

    "Eh..."

It was quite simple to achieve the goal, but it left Amora confused!

At the end of this happy meeting, Amora asked himself if he needed to do any preparation to ensure that he could follow Professor Lohart's pace in class, but was told by Lohart that he didn't need to prepare at all, just follow orders during the class.

    "By the way, Professor Lohart--"

Before leaving the office, Amora stood at the door and turned around, his expression was very subtle.

"Are you familiar with memory spells?"

ps: Please give me some votes and investments!

    "Continue."

    "Next."

    Continue.

    "Go ahead."

    "Let's begin."
